About us

MyMichigan Health is a partnership of health providers, services and facilities in the heart of Michigan. It is a non-profit, tax-exempt health system affiliated with the University of Michigan Health System. As a non-profit, all excess revenues go back into providing care, upgrading services, fairly compensating employees and creating a supportive work environment. Serving more than 981,000 residents in a 25-county region, MyMichigan Health acts as a parent organization to 12 wholly-owned subsidiaries and has various joint ventures and management contracts. During fiscal year 2023, MyMichigan Health provided more than $128 million in community benefits and other uncompensated care. MyMichigan also contributes significantly to the health of our local economies.     Welcome to the MyMichigan Family, Jennifer Schmidt, D.O. Jennifer Schmidt, D.O., is a board-certified physician and surgeon who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. She sees patients at MyMichigan Medical Center Mt. Pleasant and delivers babies at MyMichigan Medical Center Alma. She performs surgery at MyMichigan medical centers in Alma, Midland, Mt. Pleasant and Saginaw. “I am passionate about women’s health, and as an educator at heart, I spend time teaching them about what is going on with their body and the available treatment options so they can make a decision that will guide their health and lifestyle improvement. I also focus on developing a bond of trust, which has led to lifelong friendships between me and my patients. I open my heart to my patients, and they do the same.” Dr. Schmidt is experienced in providing care for high-risk obstetrics, breech vaginal deliveries for twins, as well as treating urogynecology, pelvic pain and endometriosis. As a surgeon, she is highly trained and skilled in daVinci robotic surgery for various conditions. In addition, she provides adolescent care and women’s health and wellness care.     We are thrilled to announce that Koreen Francisco, a dedicated medical technologist, has been honored as the recipient of the 2024 Terence F. Moore Award. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding employee at Midland for their exceptional contributions to the Medical Center and the health of our community. In the accompanying photo, Koreen is seen with Terry Moore (left), who served as the president of MyMichigan Medical Center Midland from 1977 to 1985 and for whom this award is named, alongside Chuck Sherwin, our current president. Congratulations, Koreen, on this well-deserved recognition!

    Welcome to the MyMichigan Family, Andi Arnoldi, MSN, FNP-BC. Andi specializes in wound care management and proudly joins the team at MyMichigan’s Wound Treatment Center in Alpena. She provides care and treatment for individuals with chronic and non-healing wounds. She is experienced in wound care treatments including debridement, advanced wound healing dressings and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.     Congratulations, Melwyn Sequeira, M.B.B.S., M.D., F.R.C.S. (Eng), F.A.C.S., surgical oncologist and endocrine surgeon, as well as oncology service line chief for MyMichigan Health! Dr. Sequeira has earned the 2024 Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) Outstanding Performance Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). Dr. Sequeira is among eight CLPs, the only one in Michigan, to receive this honor, which recognizes outstanding performance by CLPs in their role as physician quality leaders of their cancer programs.     A new, advanced structural heart procedure is now available locally! MyMichigan Health’s Structural Heart Clinic was developed based on best practices for treating patients with heart valve disease. The Clinic is specifically designed to evaluate patients for advanced heart valve treatment, including a new minimally invasive procedure to repair the tricuspid valve using the TriClipTM transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system. As a leader in structural heart, MyMichigan Medical Center Midland joins only a select few Michigan hospitals and approximately 100 initial sites across the country to perform this advanced TriClip procedure.     MyMichigan Medical Center #Sault has announced the appointment of Mark Savoie to chairman of the Medical Center’s Board of Directors. Savoie, current board co-chair, will begin his term January 1, 2025, replacing Tom Coates, current board chair, who will also continue to serve on the board. Ralph Duman, M.D., radiologist, MyMichigan Medical Center Sault, has been named co-chair of the board also beginning in 2025.
