Happy Thursday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message. Three-way communication is an important tool to ensure that information is accurately shared, and that it is accurately understood, eliminating the trap of making assumptions. A conversation that uses three-way communication works like this: • Person #1 provides the information or instruction • Person #2 repeats back the information or instruction • Person #1 confirms, corrects, or clarifies the information or instruction We do not work in isolation; we work as a team on sites where others are present, whether they are working directly with us or on their own tasks and projects. Our very own Paul Salgado served in the Navy from 2002 – 2006 and now chairs the MYR Group Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG), an organization dedicated to supporting our veteran colleagues. VERG fosters connections among employees who have similar experiences and backgrounds, providing beneficial support for veterans transitioning from military service to civilian careers, those who have been out of the military for a while, or anyone passionate about supporting the veteran community. ⛰️ Mountainous terrain creates extra challenges for transmission line construction, but it doesn’t stand in the way of our companies. With careful planning, coordination, and teamwork our subsidiary The L.E. Myers Co. successfully rebuilt 18 miles of 500kV transmission through the mountains of Virginia. “This has probably been one of the most unique and challenging projects of my entire lineworking career, and I started back in 1984,” said Senior Operations Manager Michael Comisford. Our subsidiary Western Pacific took home 3 VRCA Awards of Excellence - one for a large commercial project on the newly-restored heritage Canada Post Office, another for their work on Vancouver’s primary transportation system, and a third for their overall exemplary safety performance.
