Brooke’s Toy Closet is a program at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and TidalHealth Nanticoke that provides new toys to children in the Emergency Departments and Pediatric Units that the children get to keep and take home upon discharge. The program was named in honor of Brooke Mulford, a young girl who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer, in 2009 at the tender age of 4 years old. After a valiant battle, she passed away in June 2017. Brooke had a vision to give toys to kids in the hospital to make their time there a little easier, and that vision is what sparked the creation of Brooke's Toy Closet. Both of our toy closets are in dire need of toys. To learn how you can donate or purchase directly from our Amazon wishlist, visit tidalhealth.org/toycloset. You can also help by sharing this post and spreading the word about this program. Thank you!

For over 100 years, the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company has rounded up ponies on Assateague Island and swam them across the channel to Chincoteague, Va. for the annual Pony Penning and Auction. TidalHealth Adult Fitness patient Jack Brittingham (91) of Pittsville, Md. has been a “Saltwater Cowboy” participating in the arduous task of riding through the forests and marshes of Assateague rounding up ponies for 44 years. He has attended TidalHealth's Adult Fitness program since 2010. He regularly attends three times a week at the Salisbury, Md. location. He states: "As long as I can get on a horse, I will continue to ride. I couldn't have done it without [TidalHealth's Adult Fitness team]." Jack's hobbies include horseback riding and spending time with his grandchildren. His ultimate goal is to participate in the 100th annual Chincoteague Pony Penning and Auction in July 2025. It just goes to show that age is just a number — keep up the great work, Jack! To learn more about this program, visit https://lnkd.in/ewEcvHT3.

The TidalHealth Foundation extends a heartfelt thank you to Willowbrook and the Drummond family for their generosity and support. In July, Willowbrook hosted a car show in memory of local car enthusiast Steve Drummond. Steve’s wife, Kathy, is a cancer survivor and wanted to donate the event proceeds to a local cause. After hearing about TidalHealth’s new initiative, the Drive for Mobile Mammography, she thought it would be a perfect fit. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e-Jwqa7b

You are looking at 108 hats made by a local 9.5-year cancer survivor, Nancy Elliott. While recovering from surgery, Nancy spent her post-operative period crocheting hats of all colors and sizes. She is pictured here with her apprentice, Blaire Polidore, who is the daughter of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional 3 East RN, Trisha Polidore. Nancy donated the hats to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional's 3 East oncology unit. Thank you, Nancy and Blaire, for your generosity and countless hours of dedicated handiwork to benefit our patients!
