Take Your Time on the Things That Matter Early on, it's often tough to know what deserves the most energy at this moment, as you're consistently balancing 10 different job functions, all at the same time. You feel that if one falls, it can all come crumbling down. As you grow, you figure out which ones deserve the most intentional energy and which ones don't. In my opinion, nailing your product and your ability to execute on that—with operational excellence and lasting, impactful storytelling—are the most crucial ingredients for success. No one can do it alone, so the people you surround yourself to build are vital for growth; there is nothing more important. When you're hiring, don’t just throw together a job post. Take your time—what is the REAL need and pain point from your skillset gap? Do you need a visionary or someone who gets things done? In startups, it’s both, so how are you probing during the interview to ensure you're not just getting an answer that you want to hear? - Identify the core pain points you’re trying to address that you believe will unlock the most opportunity for growth - Be clear about the job expectations, what their title is, and what it really signifies within your team. - Determine if you need someone with big ideas, someone who can execute flawlessly, or ideally, a blend of both. - Line up your core values and give each candidate a proper rating next to each one for how well that align. Taking your time to figure these elements out will pay off in the long run. It’s not just about filling a position; it’s about finding the right person who aligns with your core values and who you believe will make everyone better and drive your company forward. Recently, we posted a job opening at Nēmah and received over 2,000 applications. I’ve been looking through every resume myself (Apologies for any delays in communication, my LI inbox is shot) We’re actively working through them and this process has reaffirmed how crucial it is to take the time to find the right fit. "The best investment you can make is in the people who will help you grow." Don’t rush this process. The right team member can make all the difference.

Happy National Breastfeeding Awareness Month! Where every day is a hard-earned victory 😅

We get the feeling that breastfeeding parents are performing Olympic feats of strength postpartum — so we asked an actual Olympian to confirm. Confirmed: 11-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix agrees. Sarah Kellogg Neff, CEO of The Lactation Network, and Leah Tribus, IBCLC, RN spoke with Felix about how she launched the first nursery in the Olympic Village in partnership with Pampers Professional at the 2024 Olympics. That's because she understands how important it is for breastfeeding mothers and parents to get the support they deserve. “I don’t want any other woman to feel like she has to choose between her profession and motherhood, and definitely not to have to hide bringing a new life into this world,” Felix shared, explaining that when she was pregnant with her daughter five years ago, she would train at 4 a.m. to hide her pregnancy, fearing that she’d lose her sponsorship deals. Like Allyson Felix, we're pioneering a better path forward for parents — by connecting them to in-home, insurance-covered care for the first time ever. We must do better for all mothers and parents.
