Happy Election Day! Regardless of which propositions you support, whether you are red, blue, or purple, today is of the utmost importance. We are lucky enough to live in a country that respects human rights, including the right to choose who governs. This tradition created this country, with the Declaration of Independence signed in 1776 and our active support of France in overthrowing its monarchy in 1789. We have been fighting for democracy at home and abroad ever since. Today is a day to reflect on the commonalities between us: a love for our families, a desire to live in a safe and clean environment, the ability to choose what we do for a living and pursue our passions, and the freedom to dream for a better future and execute on that dream. We all must respect each other in order for each of us to continue to have those freedoms.
