Meet Meg Thomas Crosby! We are thrilled to feature Meg in our member spotlight series. Learn more about her and gain valuable insights from her wealth of experience!
Current Boards: Diversified Trust Company, a wealth management company with offices across the southeast. Kukui, a SaaS platform supporting marketing and management for auto repair shops.
Directorship Superpower: I have enjoyed a long career in HR and Organizational Development. As such, I bring the people lens to our board discussions. I gravitate towards the Compensation Committee and love to strategize about succession, talent development, and culture.
Advice for a new board member: A mentor once told me, “Organizations grow in the direction of the questions that board members ask.” Don’t be afraid to ask good questions!
One item that is always on your desk: Several years ago, I participated in some coaching. The coach asked us to find a photo of ourselves as a very young child that captured our true essence. The photo I have is of me around age 2, dressed in my Easter finest, sitting at the top of a slide with a huge smile on my face. I keep the photo on my desk to remind me to find joy as often as possible.
Night owl or early bird: Ha! Neither. My husband says I’m “hell between the eights!” I get a lot done between 8am and 8pm.
Historical figure you’d like to meet: Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Favorite lunch spot: Seasons 52
Loading the dishwasher – art or science: A bit of both!
Tip for a CEO to get the most out of the board: One of the biggest missed opportunities I see is in the board’s agenda. Many executive teams spend the entire meeting presenting to the board instead of engaging with the board. We are here to add value. Use us! Give us some interesting strategic questions to chew on with you.
One thing that made you smile recently: I have a 5 month-old German Shepherd puppy who brings me ridiculous joy.
Best Vacation: Our favorite vacation was 2020 RV Trip to National Parks in the Southwest including the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, and Moab with my husband and 12-year-old son. Covid lockdown had just ended, and we were among the first people in line when the Grand Canyon re-opened. We had the place all to ourselves! It was amazing!
