dated by Charlie Speed 04-05-24) AMPP SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA CHAPTER is holding an up-to date a three-day “State of the Art Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Mitigation Seminar Workshop”. Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is a major topic of concern in refineries and petrochemical processing plants, as well as in any facility with insulated carbon steel or stainless equipment. AMPP has a Standard Practice document, (SP 0198) which covers the topic of CUI and recommended practice for insulation, cladding, and coatings under insulation. This CUI seminar is intended for maintenance personnel, supervisors, inspectors, specifiers of coating systems, and other personnel involved in specifying CUI coating systems or inspecting and evaluating aged equipment for CUI. It is also ideal for people designing new equipment subject to CUI when in service. The seminar will cover latest trends and developments in mitigating of corrosion under insulation, new tools, processes for finding and measuring CUI, newly available CUI coatings, insulation, and jacketing products. The seminar instructor is Mr. Peter Bock, who has forty six years of experience working High Temperature Corrosion, Coatings, and Corrosion Under Insulation. Mr. Bock has published numerous articles on CUI issues, and has spoken at AMPP/NACE, SSPC, ICC and other national and worldwide venues regarding corrosion under insulation problems and solutions. AMPP SELA Chapter held it first Marerials Selection & Designing for Corrosion Control Seminar at the Vistitor’s Center at Dow Plaquemine on April 17th. Over 50 Dow employees and guests attended. Presentations by Dr Luis Garfias, Charlie Speed, Mike Fortin, Lemons Manfacturing, Belzona and Nobleclad gave attendees a good overview of how and what goes into some of the materials used, what goes into designing and how to perform failure analysis.
