Today, the FDA announced its intention to extend the compliance date for the Food Traceability Rule by 30 months. https://lnkd.in/ejzCZYPh "The FDA remains committed to successful implementation of the full requirements of the final rule, as they will allow for faster identification and removal of potentially contaminated food from the market, resulting in fewer foodborne illnesses and deaths. Accordingly, the compliance date extension does not amend, nor do we intend to amend, the requirements of the final rule, which will improve food safety and protect public health. Instead, the compliance date extension affords covered entities the additional time necessary to ensure complete coordination across the supply chain in order to fully implement the final rule’s requirements—ultimately providing FDA and consumers with greater transparency and food safety."

Each year, National Safe Place (NSP) Week is recognized during the third full week in March. Convenience retailers like QuikTrip support Safe Place (National Program), a national youth outreach program for young people in need of immediate help and safety. Over the last year, QuikTrip has facilitated 346 Safe Place calls nationally in partnership with its 22 Safe Place partner agencies across 19 states. “The safety of our employees, customers, and communities is QuikTrip’s top priority, and that’s why we are so proud to be a longstanding Safe Place partner,” said Lauren Sherry, QuikTrip community relations manager and National Safe Place Network board member. “For over 30 years, our partnership with the National Safe Place Network has allowed us to help thousands of young people in crisis find the safety and support they need to grow and succeed.” Safe Place locations are identifiable by the distinctive yellow and black sign. "At no other airport in the world is there a bigger number of 7-Eleven outlets than in Copenhagen. Operated by 7-Eleven licensee Reitan Convenience, there are now 11 7-Eleven stores and 89 7-Eleven vending machines at the airport. It is very hard for passengers not to observe the strong 7-Eleven branding as they move within Copenhagen Airport which is the largest airport in Scandinavia."

A lot has been said about the dinner daypart. Namely that the convenience channel—one of the fastest growing retail food segments—is missing out on dinner sales. Our annual NACS Magazine “Foodservice” issue digs into strategies that can help retailers boost dinner sales. Read more to find out retailers like Curby's Express Market in Lubbock, Texas, are capturing about half of its foodservice business at dinner time. See how Huck's Food and Fuel, based in Carmi, Illinois, has found that portability is a key element of its dinner program. Tap into La Crosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip, Inc.’s success with take-home meals like beef stroganoff, chicken alfredo and a chicken enchilada bowl. And read more about how York, Pennsylvania-based Rutter's promotes its foodservice offers with eye-catching professional photos that are displayed on digital signage throughout its stores.
