The 2024 Nation’s Report Card (#NAEP) will be released in early 2025, instead of fall 2024, to allow time for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to study if there are any impacts from changing assessment devices. States and TUDA districts were informed of these changes in April 2023. Together again! The National Assessment Governing Board has convened in D.C. for our quarterly meeting. So far, we have sworn in new and returning board members, had an update from our executive director, discussed the assessment schedule, and reviewed our budget. The NAEP, The Nation's Report Card (National Assessment of Educational Progress) is the only assessment that allows us to measure student achievement across various grades, ages, and content areas and to compare students across states. It is the gold standard in assessment for our K-12 learners, and its value cannot be overstated. Follow us on social media to learn more and to hear about upcoming test results.

Executive Director @ National Assessment Governing Board. Public servant, education advocate, parent.
I am excited for the 2024 Nation’s Report Card to come out in early 2025--and especially for a *new feature* that will change how students’ socioeconomic status is reported and analyzed. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has developed a new index to better understand students’ access to resources and how student results differ by that important contextual information. Free- and Reduced-Price Lunch will still be captured on the report card, under the label economically disadvantaged.
For decades, The Nation’s Report Card has used student eligibility for the National School Lunch Program (often known as free- and reduced-price lunch) to identify students who have fewer economic advantages and less access to resources. But this measure taps only the economic part of socioeconomic status. Starting with the 2024 Nation’s Report Card, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) will report a new composite measure — the Socioeconomic Status (SES) Index — to describe students’ opportunities more fully. (Free- and Reduced-Price Lunch will still be captured on the report card, under the label, economically disadvantaged.) Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eS57bVeF #NAEP

If students aren’t in school, how can they learn? Experts predict academic recovery will be nearly impossible if chronic absenteeism persists. https://lnkd.in/eZHxGvWV
