We at NALSC: the National Association of Legal Search Consultants are thrilled to announce the availability of the new Universal Lateral Partner Questionnaire (U-LPQ). The purpose of the U-LPQ is to minimize inefficiency in the lateral partner recruiting and hiring process, conserve all parties’ time and resources, enable more choices for candidates and law firms, streamline the often burdensome and duplicative LPQ process, and provide crucial partner data in the most accurate manner. #legalrecruiter #law #lawfirms #lawpartners #lateralhires

About us
NALSC® (the National Association of Legal Search Consultants) is the only organization representing the attorney search profession. NALSC is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards by requiring adherence of its members to the NALSC Code of Ethics®. We provide educational forums and opportunities for members to learn, discuss best practices, and socialize together. NALSC currently is comprised of 180 members from all over the United States and Canada, as well as other international locations. Given the prominence of the Code of Ethics, a constantly increasing number of legal employers are incorporating the NALSC Code of Ethics® in their recruitment contracts. NALSC has two conferences per year, the Fall Symposium (typically in New York City or DC) and the Annual Conference (in a different US location each year). These conferences filled with numerous programs of interest to legal recruiters, networking, and fun with professional colleagues. Dan Binstock currently serves at President, and Stephanie Ankus serves as NALSC’s Executive Director. BOARD OF DIRECTORS President Dan Binstock, Esq. “Be the best version of yourself, and the only person who can define that is you.” That was the parting advice shared by Trevon Jenifer, three-time Paralympic wheelchair basketball gold medalist and keynoter at the recent NALSC: the National Association of Legal Search Consultants Fall Symposium in the latest “Recruiters Stories” podcast. Both Trevon and additional podcast guest Jennifer Gillman, NALSC Board Member and President of Gillman Strategic Group, understand the importance of self-care and the ability to do a personal reset to turn your attitude from loser to winner, thus achieving peak performance for yourself and your team. Jennifer also talks about various tools and strategies she uses to get the most out of her team as well as how she helps her candidates become “Happy Rainmakers” – in 6 minute increments—for fulfilling and sustainable careers. You can hear their lively and insightful conversations with NALSC Vice President of Long Range Planning, Jordan Abshire of Abshire Legal Search, LLC by tuning in here: https://buff.ly/3N40WPz. #nalsc #legalrecruiting #lawjobs #legaljobs #podcasts

Is your recruiter playing by the rules? You really want to make sure that the recruiters you choose are reputable and ethical, especially if you’re using more than one. You don’t want any conflicts or have them stepping on each other’s toes. When choosing a recruiter for lawyers, a threshold question is whether the search firm is a member of the NALSC: the National Association of Legal Search Consultants NALSC is the only trade organization for outside legal recruiters in the U.S. Among other things, NALSC provides educational opportunities, access to a nationwide network of reputable legal recruiting firms and, most importantly, a Code of Ethics® to which member firms agree to adhere. Law firms often include a term in their search firm fee agreements that the recruiters agree to follow the NALSC Code of Ethics®. Of course there are reputable legal recruiters who are not members of NALSC but, if you choose to use one, at a minimum, make sure that the recruiter adheres to the NALSC Code of Ethics®. The important difference, however, is that is a non-member firm violates the Code of Ethics®, there is no recourse. A non-member search firm may say they follow the Code of Ethics®, but only NALSC members are bound to abide by the Code of Ethics® . A searchable directory of NALSC member recruiting firms and the Code of Ethics® can be found at https://buff.ly/3PVIIEA. #NALSC #legalrecruiting #lawjobs #legaljobs #legalrecruiters

Lawyers have a higher rate of suicides and stress-related issues than most of the population. Then why aren’t they taking advantage of the mental health training available at their firms? According to a recent survey by Bloomberg Law, “Almost three-fourths (73%) of those attorneys whose organization offers general well-being education don’t attend. When it comes to training on mental health first aid and psychological safety, even more said they skip the class: 91% don’t go although training is available.” For more, see: https://buff.ly/3Uk2jzV The number one reason lawyers gave for not taking advantage of the resources available to them was time. Would offering billable hours credit for time spent attending these trainings help? What do you think? #nalsc #lawjobs #legaljobs #legalrecruiting #mentalhealth

Will this musical album aimed at lawyers rival Lin Manuel’s just released concept album based on the 1979 cult-classic movie, The Warriers? It’s doubtful. But listening to it may be better for your legal career. Building a book of business is crucial to a law firm lawyer's success, and listening to the right music just might be the key to making that happen. In https://buff.ly/3UaKHpZ, former practicing lawyer, consultant, and author David H. Freeman describes the creation of an 11 song "musical" that follows the journey of a protagonist, Alex, toward becoming an exceptional rainmaker. He says, “By using catchy lyrics and good hooks, we now have songs that reveal truths about how to become business developers. . . In a world flooded with too much information, leaders must find new ways to capture attention and inspire action. Using music to augment existing approaches can be a way to cut through the noise and deliver training that sticks. We all have songs looping in our heads—why not use them to make us better?” What would be your go-to song for business development? #nalsc #lawjobs #legaljobs #legalrecruiting #businessdevelopment
