We recently had the honor of providing testimony at the United States Senate Ag Subcommittee hearing on #schoolmeals. Representing NASDA - National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding delivered an exceptional oral testimony that underscored our members’ #bipartisan support for programs that connect #nutritionsecurity and #local and #regional #foodsystems. School meal programs not only nourish our children but can also simultaneously strengthen the fabric of our communities—especially rural communities, creating economic stability and new market opportunities. It was truly an honor to work alongside the dedicated team from Pennsylvania in highlighting these critical issues. We’re especially grateful to Senator Braun and his team for inviting us to share the immense value these types of programs offer to kids and local economies, and to Chairman Fetterman’s team for their warm hospitality throughout the process. Our partners at NASDA - National Association of State Departments of Agriculture are enhancing American food and agricultural communities through policy, partnerships, and public engagement. By leading trade missions to emerging markets like Indonesia, NASDA fosters global trust and innovation, addressing critical issues such as Halal certification and dairy facility registration. These efforts not only reduce inefficiencies and food waste but also create valuable forums for knowledge sharing, ultimately supporting the diverse needs of farmers, ranchers, and consumers worldwide. The GAP Initiative amplifies the work of our supporting & technical partners. Find out more about our partners, their work, and the latest #agproductivity data at the upcoming GAP Report launch, hosted by GAP Initiative at Virginia Tech in TWO DAYS on October 3rd in Washington D.C. and online. “America’s #farmers and ranchers provide the #food, fiber, fuel and shelter that we all depend on every single day but they are subject to numerous and complex challenges that are out of their control,” newly-elected NASDA President Arkansas Department of Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward said. “Agriculture is national security and it is critical that Congress pass a new farm bill in 2024.” Read the resolution passed by NASDA board members expressing support for the expeditious passage of a comprehensive, #bipartisan #farmbill. https://lnkd.in/ggw3fC_Q
