🌟 Partner Recognition 🌟 We are thrilled to highlight the incredible achievement of our longtime conservation partner, Arnaud Desbiez, President and Founder of Icas - Wild Animal Conservation Institute, who has been honored with the prestigious Wolfgang Kiessling International Prize for Species Conservation, awarded by Global Humane. This recognition shines a light on the vital work ICAS is doing to protect South American giant armadillos and giant anteaters in Brazil, including the impactful Anteaters & Highways project, which Nashville Zoo proudly supports. The Anteaters & Highways project focuses on studying and protecting wild giant anteaters while understanding how roadways affect their populations. By developing innovative road mitigation methods like properly installed fencing and safe crossing passages, the project has significantly reduced the number of anteaters injured by cars. Collaborations between Zoos and other non-profits like ICAS are essential in making a broader impact in conservation. These partnerships allow organizations to share resources and expertise, enabling important initiatives like the Anteaters & Highways project to thrive. By working together, we can amplify conservation efforts and create a lasting, global impact for species protection. 💛 Please join us in congratulating Arnaud on this well-deserved recognition! 🎉 Learn more about the Wild Animal Conservation Institute → https://lnkd.in/eMcG45bX #Conservation #Partners

In the spirit of the Year of the Dragon, we're proud to announce our first-ever successful hatching of two Komodo dragons! 🐉 🐉 Born on September 20 and 23, these little ones weigh in at around 100 grams—about the size of a stick of butter! They're currently being cared for behind the scenes in our Komodo Dragon facility. As the largest lizards on Earth, Komodo dragons can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh over 300 pounds. Their unique reproductive abilities, including parthenogenesis, showcase their incredible adaptation to their environments. As part of our conservation efforts, we participate in the Komodo Dragon Species Survival Plan® to ensure the growth of healthy, genetically diverse populations. Our partnership with the Komodo Survival Program enhances our efforts, allowing us to support conservation initiatives in their native habitat. A special shoutout to our dedicated herpetology team, whose hard work has made this success possible. 🙌 🐉 Learn more about our conservation efforts at https://lnkd.in/evNsc_2W, and join us in celebrating this monumental milestone! #NashvilleZoo #KomodoDragons #Conservation #EndangeredSpecies #ZooLife #YearOfTheDragon 🐉 🐉

Today is World Rhinoceros Day. Due to human activity, rhinos are a critically endangered species, with less than 30,000 living in the wild today. With the increasing rates of rhino poaching, it takes government, businesses, nonprofits like zoos and conservation organizations, and individuals throughout the world to come together and work to preserve endangered species. If your business would like to join the fight to safeguard species, please consider partnering with the Nashville Zoo! Reach out to us at CorporatePartnerships@NashvilleZoo.org today to explore partnership opportunities. #endangeredspecies #worldrhinoday #conservation #corporatepartnerships

Nashville Zoo’s Conservation Corner: The Purple Martin Phenomenon 🌿🐦 At Nashville Zoo, we are passionate about making a difference not just for the animals we house but for our entire community. One of our proudest achievements is our Avian department’s role in the incredible conservation story of the Purple Martin—a bird whose presence in Nashville is nothing short of spectacular! 📈 Conservation Success: As part of our conservation efforts, Nashville Zoo is one of many contributing partners and newly dubbed Steering Committee member to The Urban Bird Treaty program (UBT). By being a member of the program, Nashville Zoo has pledged to help educate the public about birds and conservation while also assisting in local conservation efforts such as monitoring the Purple Martins. Nashville Zookeeper Rachael Payton is a member of the Purple Martin task force and serves as the Zoo’s representative and committee chair member for the UBT. 🌱 Community Impact: This phenomenon is not only about the thousands of birds that roost here in Nashville, but also a testament to what can be achieved when we come together for a cause. Our combined efforts have engaged local schools, community groups, and bird enthusiasts, fostering a shared sense of responsibility for our natural world. 🔍 Research and Education: Beyond conservation, we are committed to educating the public about the Purple Martin's role in our ecosystem. Through the support of interactive programs and detailed observations, our goal is to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Join us in celebrating the success of the Purple Martin Project and learn more about how Nashville Zoo is making a difference alongside the UBT. Together, we can continue to support and protect the incredible wildlife that calls our city home. 🔗 Read more about our Purple Martin conservation efforts and see how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/etYGxazY #NashvilleZoo #PurpleMartin #Conservation #WildlifeProtection #CommunityImpact #ZooLife #EnvironmentalEducation #Nashville
