National Association of Social Workers – Massachusetts Chapter (NASW-MA) is a membership association that advances professional social work practice throughout the Commonwealth and advocates for equity and justice for all people. NASW-MA is one of 55 chapters of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Founded in 1957, NASW is the largest organization of professional social workers in the world, with over 155,000 members worldwide.

    Meet our Honoree - Patricia Baker, Senior Benefits Policy Advocate, receiving the Public Citizen of the Year Award. Join us in celebration on October 17th (5:30pm) at La Cantina Italiana in Framingham. Learn more here https://lnkd.in/eeYGyjJs Patricia Baker joined MLRI’s Benefits Practice Group in 1983. As a Senior Policy Advocate at MLRI, Patricia works at both the state and federal level on a range of legislative, administrative, and policy matters that affect low-income families, elders and persons with disabilities. Patricia has authored and edited numerous publications, including the Food Stamp/SNAP Advocacy Guide as well as other MLRI Advocacy Guides involving cash assistance programs, immigrant eligibility issues and homeless rights, and co-authored and contributed to several national reports for the Food Research Action Center and Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. During 2022, Patricia successfully advocated with the MA Congressional Delegation to secure language in the United for Ukraine Act to secure federally funded SNAP and cash benefits to Ukrainian refugee families. She has a demonstrated history of administrative and clinical experience within mental health, education, government and non-profit sectors. She is also the founder of inKlusion - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consulting Services, where she offers training and facilitation on topics of cultural humility, antiracism, social justice and advocacy. Lopes is also the co-author of Change the Narrative: How to Foster an Antiracist School Culture in Your School.
