Our mission is to increase participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf.
About us
The National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) is the leader in inclusion— working to ensure the opportunity for all individuals with disabilities to play the game of golf. Formed in the summer of 2001, the National Alliance is represented by major golf, recreation and therapeutic organizations in the United States; organizations that provide services for people with disabilities; and others who advocate for the inclusion of people with disabilities into society. Our mission is to increase participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf. Through golf, individuals with disabilities become actively engaged in the social fabric of a community, and derive health benefits that improve quality of life. The National Alliance headquarters is located in Stuart, FL, and is governed by a Board of Directors representing those organizations instrumental in forming the National Alliance and administered by an Executive Director along with a Grant Consultant.

2024 Adaptive Golf Car Data Call: Recently, the National Alliance for Accessible Golf sent out a data call to help establish a better national database of existing adaptive golf cars available at golf facilities around the country. With cooperation from many Allied Golf Associations and adaptive car manufacturers, we endeavor to provide a national inventory of adaptive equipment to facilitate player entry into the game and to help identify vehicles that could potentially be available in the vicinity of future adaptive golf competitions. Presently, 175 responses from 27 states have been received, which is greatly appreciated. If your state or regional golf association has not yet solicited inputs from your member golf facilities, please consider contributing to this effort prior to Sep 15, 2024 as your responses will directly assist in bringing golfers of all ages into the game. The bad news is, we get our share of calls about access still being denied or unreasonably restricted at golf courses. The good news is we get opportunities to help golf course operators and the golfers themselves better understand solutions are less complicated than many seem to think. For example ... geo-fencing that keeps golf cars from going beyond a certain point. I love this technology from a course management perspective but operators must understand that ONE setting for individuals with disabilities, or those who may require additional access will not work for everyone. 30 yards from the green as an example may be OK for one golfer, but could absolutely be considered a denial of access to another. Our advice? Put the effort into seeking access, not denying it. The course may certainly protect its property from damage that may occur when the course is too wet, safety matters exist with chemical applications, or due to other course maintenance, etc. If this is not the case, the best advice we can give operators is to have your access policies published and easy to find AND train your leadership and staff to understand tailored solutions may still be required. It takes more effort to find yourself in an "access denial" scenario than to provide access. Be reasonable and seek access for your golfers. That is the solution that changes the game for everyone. Learn more through the National Alliance for Accessible Golf Education Hub, a no-cost education platform (thanks to the support we receive from the leading golf industry associations and our supporting partners tagged below) specifically designed to educate golf facility leadership, staff and more related to the ADA and the game of golf. I recently caught this video from Travelers while doing what I do on the weekends sometimes ... watch golf versus play golf. Big props to Travelers who is not only showing what is possible in the game of golf, they are actively making a difference in peoples lives. Increasing the participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf is our mission and this kind of work from all involved is GREAT to see. D. Barton, PGA - Exec Director.
