Advocacy is a crucial part of #NASW’s mission to shape policies that help social workers, their clients, and communities. During Advocacy Day, #SocialWorkers engaged directly with policymakers, learned advocacy skills, and pushed for the changes we need. This year, we organized over 200 social workers from 36 states and 1 U.S. Territory to brief 172 Congressional Offices which resulted in new cosponsors for each of our targeted bills.

She brings insight into the role of social workers as advocates for vulnerable families and shares crucial areas for reform in the social work sector, and this session will focus on disenfranchised grief, loss, and trauma related to adoption, in addition to the importance of adoption competence in social work.
