NAWLEE joins in mourning those whose lives have been lost due to #Helene and we are keeping the millions across the Southeast whose lives will never be the same in our thoughts. The heroism of first responders from around the country has been on full display throughout this terrible tragedy and we thank them for their noble service. Tragically, at least two sheriff’s deputies have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. They may be gone, but will never be forgotten. https://lnkd.in/ejtM_6gN

Thank you St. Louis County Police Chief Kenneth Gregory, St. Louis Police Chief Robert Tracy, and Derek Machens, President of St. Louis County Police Association for taking a stand and publicly condemning local business owner Andy Frisella and cutting ties with his company, 1st Phorm for the horrible and vitriolic comments he made about women law enforcemetn officers. There is no place for this type of treatment of women in any profession, or at any time for that matter. https://lnkd.in/eQiFcnxv

On September 13, 1994 the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was enacted. Over the past 30 years, VAWA has saved countless lives and distributed billions of dollars through the U.S. Department of Justice, The Office on Violence Against Women to train criminal justice professionals on domestic and sexual violence, and stalking. NAWLEE is proud to have been able to participate in events this week at the White House and Departmemt of Justice to mark VAWA’s enactmemt 30 years ago and honor those who continue the fight to end gender based violence. NAWLEE continues its commitment to this lofty goal by over the past year becoming part of the OVW Law Enforcement Training and Technical Assistance Consortium, and by working with partners to address domestic and sexual violence, and stalking.

On this day, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who rose, and the resilience of a nation forever changed. 9/11 stands as a solemn reminder of both our deepest sorrow and our greatest strength. NAWLEE honors the memories of those we lost and the courage of those who responded in the face of unknown dangers. Let us never forget the unity, compassion, and hope that followed in the face of such unimaginable tragedy. Today, and always, we stand together. #NeverForget
