NAWB represents more than 590 workforce development boards and their members that coordinate and leverage workforce strategies with education and economic development stakeholders within their communities to ensure that state and local workforce development and job training programs meet the needs of employers. These investments in workforce development create a comprehensive system to provide America with a highly skilled workforce that competes in the global economy. NAWB is the only association that advocates for workforce development boards. NAWB works closely with policy makers in Washington, DC to inform national strategy as it relates to workforce development boards and our partners in education, economic development, labor and business. We support our members through a comprehensive program of advocacy, training and technical assistance, convenings, communications, and the promotion of strategic partnerships for the advancement of our nation’s workforce. Our national conference, The Forum, gathers a diverse audience of workforce development professionals and leaders in business, government, labor, and education to learn from experts, technologists, and each other and explore both practical and theoretical approaches to solving our nation's most pressing labor market challenges.

NAWB will be watching closely on #ElectionDay to learn which party will control each chamber, which incumbents are re-elected or replaced, which members have a chance to become committee chairs, and much more. As in previous years, election results may not be known for days or weeks, and some close races could result in a recount or a run-off election. Watch this space for updates. As National Disability Employment Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to recognize LEAD Center's Promising Practices in Achieving Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity: A Section 188 Disability Reference Guide, which enhances existing guidance for American Job Centers (AJCs) to better serve individuals with disabilities and comply with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Key additions include strategies for affirmative outreach, effective communication for d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, and the use of new technologies. The guide also highlights promising practices for serving traditionally underserved communities. While aimed at AJCs, it is a valuable resource for anyone in the workforce development system promoting equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities. Learn more 👇
"The nation's public workforce system strives to provide all of our neighbors—including individuals with disabilities—with pathways to opportunity through the power of work. The [National Association of Workforce Boards] NAWB deeply appreciates all that ODEP has done and continues to do to support workforce development boards in their work. This updated Section 188 Reference Guide is a valuable tool that provides new, impactful guidance and resources that build on previous ODEP offerings."— Brad Turner-Little, President and CEO, NAWB Download the guide at: bit.ly/401sDCx.

Joining the digital transformation is a crucial strategy to ensure your community remains competitive and resilient in the rapidly changing market. Over the past two years, the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) has searched for the right intersection of skills, assessments, and Learning and Employment Records (LERs) to improve the success of workforce development boards. Together with partners in the workforce ecosystem, we have been researching the paradigm shift of Skills-Based Hiring & Advancement (SBHA) and Learning & Employment Records (LER). The transformation is being documented and we are excited to share with you our new resource, Workforce Development Board Readiness: Embracing Skills-Based Hiring & Advancement and Learning & Employment Records. This publication contains vital information and suggestions to reimagine your workforce approach. Every workforce development board has a responsibility to its community to explore promising ideas and innovations. By convening the conversation and collaborating with area employers, you can make a difference. It is critical to be informed, explore the possibilities, and pressure-test the strategies with your ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/e4W2-7-f #workforce #LER #SBHA #skillsbasedhiring #workforcedevelopment #workforcematters
