The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) believes the best management of any patient with cancer is a clinical trial, but the idea of enrolling in a clinical trial may seem daunting. In this video, hear why Julio Piña, a patient with anaplastic ependymoma, and his wife Liz enrolled in a trial and what the process looked like. During his residency, Ranjit Bindra, MD, PhD, met a 3-year-old patient who tragically passed from a brainstem glioma. Her case drives much of the work he does today as a radiation oncologist treating patients with brain tumors at the Yale Cancer Center/Smilow Cancer Hospital and a researcher pursuing the latest breakthroughs. Dr. Bindra is co-director of NBTS’s DNA Damage Response Consortium, which has brought together a group of leading experts in both pediatric and adult neuro-oncology research across the U.S. to evaluate an emerging class of promising drugs that target the DNA damage response (DDR) networks in brain tumors. Thank you to Dr. Bindra and all brain tumor researchers for the important work they do every day to bring hope to the brain tumor community. #NationalBrainTumorSociety

Just 14 months after undergoing surgery and learning to walk again, Shawn W. crossed the finish line of a half marathon as a member of NBTS’s Gray Nation Endurance® team. And he didn’t stop there — expanding into advocacy, Shawn met with his representatives at NBTS’s 2024 Head to the Hill. There, his story of survivorship inspired Congressman John Joyce, MD, to become an original co-sponsor of the Bolstering Research And Innovation Now (BRAIN) Act, a landmark bipartisan bill designed to meet the unique needs of the #braintumor community. Your voice matters. Help us drive the urgently needed breakthroughs ahead by becoming an advocate or making a gift today at BrainTumor.org. #Head2Hill #NationalBrainTumorSociety

The Brain Tumor Investment Fund (BTIF) is pleased to announce the first successful exit by a BTIF portfolio company, Modifi Bio. This acquisition demonstrates that investing in early-stage start-ups in the brain tumor space is critical to advancing promising treatments for patients with brain tumors and can provide a strong return on investment. We have long seen promise in Modifi’s approach to DNA damage response, and are pleased that our investment has helped them gain momentum. We congratulate Ranjit Bindra and the team at Modifi, and we are excited that Merck plans to take this treatment forward.
