Consumers’ strong emotional connection to chocolate persisted throughout the past year despite economic pressures to scale back, according to a new report from the National Confectioners Association. Chocolate accounted for $21.4 billion in confectionery sales over the past year, with 65% of American consumers saying that chocolate is still an affordable treat.
