The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) completed an extensive post-implementation review of the #pension standards issued in 2012 (Statement No. 67, Financial Reporting for Pension Plans, and Statement No. 68, Accounting and Financial Reporting for Pensions). The way a company is managed is important and causal to its outcomes. The owners of a company should get to decide how that company is run. If an asset owner has a company in the portfolio, they should want better outcomes for that company. Thank you to all of our speakers, attendees, and program directors for making this year's program a huge success. Neil Reichenberg then discussed the latest developments in workforce laws, regulations, and litigation impacting public sector HR. He discussed key issues such as FLSA overtime, independent contractor rules, four-day workweeks, and more. Attendees then participated in breakout conversations on succession planning and accommodation requests, sharing lessons learned and discussing solutions to common challenges. UKG' Bob Lavigna, IPMA-HR SCP wrapped up the program with a discussion on the new world of work, exploring what organizations and HR professionals need to do today--and tomorrow--to attract and retain talent. Thank you to today's Public Pension HR Summit speakers for sharing invaluable insights about key issues impacting the workforce! https://lnkd.in/e3zecB8y The learning continued this afternoon following a #networking lunch. Shunne Powell, SHRM-CP (she/her/hers) and Kellie Sauls, ADEIP/CCDP of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas led an engaging session on the impact of comprehensive #DEI approaches. They discussed what an inclusive culture is and shared practical tips to help fellow #humanresources professionals foster a meaningful culture of belonging for their own teams. Betterment Works' Maddy Gabor and Lauren Yee led an interactive workshop to help attendees understand the basics of #neurodiversity, exploring how it shows up at work and what HR practitioners can do to build more inclusive teams. Attendees then participated in concurrent breakouts to discuss the impacts of an aging population and how to adapt to a multi-generational workforce. These peer-to-peer learning opportunities help spark ideas and connections. To wrap up the day, Better Beings' Michelle Zellner led a wellness activity to help attendees reset and reflect after a long day full of learning and networking with peers. #publicpensions #PublicPensionHRSummit #NCPERS
