🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, to Ruby Lee Piester! 🎉 Today, we honor and celebrate Miss Ruby Lee Piester, a TRAILBLAZER in adoption and child welfare. Ruby left a HUGE impact on the Gladney Center for Adoption and the broader adoption community. Ruby began her journey with the Gladney Center for Adoption in 1961 as the Director of Social Services and later rose to Executive Director. She established education programs and supervised over 7,800 adoptions during her tenure. Ruby also co-founded the National Council For Adoption. Her legacy lives on through the Ruby Lee Piester Centennial Professorship at UT Austin, her recognition in the Texas Women's Hall of Fame, ANNDDDDD the Ruby Lee Piester AWARD from the National Council for Adoption! Today, we reflect on her contributions and honor her legacy and commitment to creating loving homes for children. 💚
