About us
Founded in 1948, the National Glass Association (NGA), www.glass.org, combined with the Glass Association of North America (GANA), www.glasswebsite.com on February 1, 2018 to form the largest trade association serving the architectural glass and metals industry supply chain, including glazing contractors, full-service glass companies, glass fabricators, primary glass manufacturers and suppliers to the industry. It is a technical powerhouse that brings some of the best minds to the table to create technical resources and promote and advocate for glass in buildings. NGA’s education and training resources—both in print and online at MyGlassClass.com—and its official publications Glass Magazine and Window & Door, keep the industry knowledgeable and well-informed. NGA also produces the industry’s largest annual trade show in the Americas, GlassBuild America, and hosts these events: Annual Conference, Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Conference, Fall Conference, Glazing Executives Forum, and GPAD (Glass Processing Automation Days).

HOW WILL WE BUILD THE NEXT GENERATION OF WORKERS IF THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT WE DO? At #GlassBuild this week, we showed over 50 local high school students exactly what the #glass and #fenestration industry is all about, and how they can build a career here. “If young people don’t know what a glazier is, they won’t be a glazier. Same for glass fabricator. Or machine operator. Or technical engineer. Or shower door installer,” said Katy Devlin, NGA’s content director. The #NGA is committed to helping the industry build the pipeline of new workers, and engaging with schools and students is one way to raise awareness. They visited exhibitor booths to learn about the industry supply chain. “A high school group of future builders came to our booth at GlassBuild and took a tour along with NGA President, Nicole Harris,” said reps from FlexScreen on LinkedIn. “We love sharing what we've learned with future generations!” And, they were able to see machinery and products in action while getting answers to their questions. “During a conversation with two high school-age girls, they asked me what curtain wall means,” said Jenni Chase, VP, workforce development. “I was able to answer their questions and show them examples on the show floor. The opportunity to engage with this age group in a setting that shows them first-hand the career opportunities available made such an impact on us and the students.” To see industry jobs in action, the students also attended the Main Stage Keynote, Building the World We Want to See, with Emily Pilloton-Lam; and visited the AGMT Glazier Certification Technician certification rig to see installation skills and the glazing trade being put to the test. Pilloton-Lam shared her experiences working with young people on construction projects to serve local communities. "I believe that young people are incredibly talented and underestimated when it comes to being able to do real-life impactful work," she said. How are you building the next generation? SCENES FROM DAY 2 at #GLASSBUILD! Busy and meaningful day on the floor at GlassBuild America in Dallas. A few moments from the day.... We had the potential future of our industry, walking the floor and learning the craft. Cal Beyer, CWP, and David Argus delivered yet again such moving and crucial messaging on recovery-safe workplaces. They noted that we can all save more lives by educating people about the risks of addiction. They also encouraged attendees to take the “no shame pledge” by eliminating the stigma around addiction. Jeff Dalaba & Jenni Chase covered internal training programs, which are a must given our current need for labor. And a few fun scenes: Jason Isackson of Sentinel Facades had the look of the show in custom hockey jerseys and had one specially created for GlassBuild! Thank you! They presented to Max Perilstein during a break in their busy booth time. And the team from Country Glass & Mirror Inc showed up! Thank you to Brian Risinger, Joe Lambertson and team for the support. Country Glass closed their shop for the day and brought everyone to the show and made custom shirts to show their support!! We appreciate it! One more day ahead in Dallas, focusing on the annual Women in Glass & Fenestration Networking Breakfast. Nicole C. Calhoun will keynote the event that is sponsored by YKK AP America Inc., Vitro Architectural Glass, and CRL. Plus, the floor will be open until 1PM local time to get those last-minute visits in! More coverage will be provided on the #NGA social platforms in the coming days and through Glass Magazine and Window + Door publications. #glass #fenestration #glazing #windows #doors #advocacy #WomenInGlass #WomenInFenestration #WorkForceDevelopment
