UPDATE- #NGA's EPA GRANT Recently, NGA was selected for a $2.1 million grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The grant will fund further transparency and tools for NGA member companies to facilitate compliance with sustainability initiatives, including flat glass lifecycle inventories, environmental product declaration (EPD) development for processed glass fabricators, and end-of-life data on architectural glass recycling. #Timeline Currently, NGA staff and consultants are meeting virtually with EPA grant facilitators to refine the work plan, quality assurance document, and terms and conditions in preparation for grant funding in late 2024. An in-person project kick-off with EPA is planned on Monday, February 3, 2025, at NGA Glass Conference: Carlsbad for NGA member companies who would like to participate in the project. NEW WEBINAR: Keeping Pace with Technology The use of technology in commercial construction often starts and ends with the design software the architect uses. However, innovative solutions in the glazing industry have introduced various interesting and unique technologies specifically designed for specifying and installing glass.   The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM)'s Keith Fine AIA, and Blaine Grantham, CM-BIM of TITAN AEC will collaborate on a live presentation, taking place Thursday, October 31 at 2:00pm ET, that explores the use of technology in the changing face of building design. They will discuss the use of high-resolution 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry.   This new design software can provide precise measurements and detailed models of building facades to enable accurate glass fitting and reduce errors during specification and installation.
