NICD's Flagship program CommonSense American just reached over half of all Congressional offices briefed on the results of its Career-Connected Learning brief. This is a five-fold increase to the usual Congressional engagement thanks to the time and effort of thousands of CommonSense Americans who completed the brief, including our fantastic volunteer state ambassadors!

On the 23rd anniversary of the September 11th attacks in New York City, Washington DC, and Flight 93 in Southwestern Pennsylvania, we mourn for the lives lost. We will never forget the heroic actions of first responders and our nation's commitment to rebuild in the wake of profound loss. Today, we reflect and honor those who died on that terrible day.

You never know who you'll run into at the American Political Science Association annual conference. NICD's Robert Boatright and Timothy Shaffer coming and going from engaging panels and conversations about the state of democracy and its future! #APSA2024

Last week, the American Political Science Association held its annual conference. This year, there was a special plenary series of panels on democracy. NICD's Timothy Shaffer joined moderator Hahrie Han and fellow panelists Danielle Allen, Daniel Ziblatt, and Guy-Uriel Charles for an engaging discussion exploring democratic competition, participation, and liberties. A common theme that came up from the panelists was the role of civic education for youth and adults. #APSA2024 https://lnkd.in/eQhUC9JU

We’re honored to have you Holli Woodings!
My time as a Senior Fellow with the great folks at National Institute for Civil Discourse has been some of the most rewarding of my career. From congressional engagement to volunteer organizing, it's given me the chance to polish some skills that were a little rusty, and jump way up the learning curve of federal policymaking. Getting to work for one of my favorite Idahoans, Keith Allred, has been the icing on the cake. I've learned so much from him about leadership, vision, and impact. Plus he has the best adventure stories! But the time has come to say goodbye for now to this amazing team and move on to the next big thing. I'll be forever grateful for their grace, generosity, intelligence, and drive to make our country stronger. As a member of CommonSense American since 2019 I know we couldn't be in better hands! And farewell to my friends at University of Arizona Washington, DC Center. Thank you for being the best office mates and potluck chefs. I loved sharing our gorgeous space with you all. Stay tuned in coming weeks for what's next! In the meantime, our family will be on a long-planned adventure in Alaska before we get back into school and work mode.
