Our final national spotlight goes to Nikita A., National President from the Junior Economic Club of Chicago! She will be attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study computer science. Find Nikita's takeaways about her experiences with JEC below. "I had the incredible opportunity of leading the Junior Economic Club this year as the National President, and I have been involved in this amazing organization since my freshman year! JEC’s thriving community, which saw significant membership growth and chapter expansion this year, now comprises a robust 1000+ members and alumni across 17 cities globally. JEC worldwide offers a unique platform where high school students interact weekly with distinguished leaders. Over my four years at JEC, I have recognized the immense potential of young high school leaders, met exceptional individuals, and engaged in unparalleled experiences. These include learning from economics professors, participating in personal development workshops, and exploring the intersections between the business world, technology, environment, and government. Next, we have graduating senior Sohan Bendre, our National Director of Marketing from the Junior Economic Club of Chicago! He will be attending Yale University next year, planning to study a combination of mathematics, philosophy / ethics, and economics. Hear some of Sohan's takeaways from his JEC experiences below. "For me, JEC was an amazing confidence-builder. My speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills definitely would not be as strong without this experience. The club provided endless opportunities to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone, from simply asking questions at events to interning at a financial literacy startup and working on the Chicago and National boards. I'm so grateful for the connections I've made, knowledge I've gained, and skills I've been able to explore. I hope to continue my involvement with the club in the future, because I've witnessed the great impact it can have on its members!" Our next graduating senior is Justin Wang, National Director of Strategic Initiatives and Junior Economic Club of Atlanta President! He is an incoming freshman at Stanford University, looking to major in Economics and pursue a secondary major in Mathematical and Computational Science. Kicking off our graduating senior spotlights with Carlos Murillo, National Director of the Junior Economist and Junior Economic Club of Chicago Vice President! He plans to study Financial Economics at Columbia University in New York City. Listen to Carlos' takeaways from his JEC experience below. "My time at JEC has been incredible! Since sophomore year, the events and webinars have helped me formulate what I want to do in college and for my career. My interest in economics originally stemmed from the club, and I am excited to continue that as a Financial Economics major at Columbia University. I was also given the opportunity to lead on the local and national level with JEC, which sparked my love for completing tasks and growing the organization. I appreciate JEC's emphasis on mentorship - I still talk to alumni and gain insight from them, and their knowledge made the college application process easier. I have also enjoyed mentoring my peers. I spent last year meeting with almost every new member, and witnessing them go to forums and apply for the board makes me proud to have been their first contact with the club. I will continue to help JEC with whatever it needs and recommend it to any high school student."
