Hydropower can and will continue to make major contributions to our #CleanEnergy goals, but in order to keep aging plants up to speed—and establish new operations—we need a strong domestic supply chain. A new report, authored by NREL on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Water Power Technologies Office, identifies solutions for bridging gaps in the current supply chain. https://bit.ly/3Zr0hS0

Guam, a U.S. territory, is a small island with big energy dreams. Local partners and voices are driving the journey to a cleaner, more reliable, and more secure #energy future as the U.S. territory transitions to 100% #RenewableEnergy by 2045. Introducing Guam100! With funding from the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Insular Affairs, NREL is leading #Guam100, providing decision support to inform Guam's energy transition to reach 50% electricity (based on sales) from renewable energy by 2035 and 100% by 2045. Learn more about this ambitious effort in our recent article: https://bit.ly/3TA6ZBz.

Good things were happening at NREL this past summer. First, the dream of two old friends researching the mysteries of photosynthesis in the same lab finally occurred after 30 years. Second, a student from Alabama State University (ASU), a historically black college and university (HBCU), became the first ASU student to intern at a DOE national laboratory. What do these two things have in common? Both happened because of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Science Visiting Faculty Program. Learn more about this innovative program, the lives it impacted at ASU and NREL, and the clean energy research it improved, https://bit.ly/3XtM1oU

As more buildings are designed and retrofitted for sustainability and #RenewableEnergy, construction and design professionals will need to understand the fundamentals of working with building-integrated photovoltaics. NREL and our partners at the Architectural Solar Association are hosting a new webinar series to educate design and construction professionals on the full continuum of architectural solar applications and the benefits of integrating #SolarEnergy into the architectural design process. The webinars are free and accredited by the The American Institute of Architects (AIA) for 1 learning unit. Register to attend our first webinar in this series on October 1: https://bit.ly/3TA8oYN
