The Restaurant Performance Index dropped 2.3% to 98.8 in February, reflecting lower same-store sales and growing uncertainty among operators about future business conditions. Despite the declines across all key industry indicators, the RPI’s forward-looking component remained above 100 for the fifth consecutive month. About us
At the National Restaurant Association, we strive to help every one of our members build customer loyalty, find financial success and provide rewarding careers in foodservice. The industry is projected to contribute nearly $863 billion to the economy for 2019. Founded in 1919, the National Restaurant Association is the leading business association for the restaurant industry. Together with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, the Association works to lead America’s restaurant industry into a new era of prosperity, prominence and participation, enhancing the quality of life for all we serve. Our second #PAFC25 Issues for Action is all about championing restaurant growth and stability! 🍽️ The Main Street Tax Certainty Act ensures the QBI deduction for pass-through businesses is made permanent. This key deduction not only helps small businesses thrive but also creates parity with corporate tax treatment. Without action, this deduction will expire at the end of 2025—let’s not let that happen! At #PAFC25 Hill Day, let’s remind Members of Congress that by passing this act, they can empower small business restaurant operators to invest in their businesses, support their teams, and uplift their communities.

Lowering swipe fees is the first issue on our #PAFC25 2025 Issues for Action! 💳 If passed, the Credit Card Competition Act could save U.S. businesses—including restaurants—and consumers $16 billion a year. Small business owners are being squeezed by exorbitant fees. Let's create competition in the credit card processing market to ease their burden. At #PAFC25 Hill Day, remind Members of Congress that passing the CCCA is vital to supporting small businesses and creating real competition!

Students at Berkmar High School had the incredible opportunity to learn from one of the Georgia Restaurant Association founders, Phill Hickey! 🙌 James Bryant, previous Georgia Educator of Excellence winner, invited Phil Hickey, Jr., Chairman of Miller's Ale House Restaurants and former National Restaurant Association Board Chair, to speak to his upper-level culinary students about his journey and the Hospitality industry. Phil shared his incredible wealth of knowledge and experiences in the hospitality industry, inspiring the next generation of industry leaders. As a true trailblazer in the field, Phil’s story and insights provided an invaluable learning experience that went far beyond the classroom. Students saw firsthand what hard work, perseverance, and focus look like in action—and Phil delivered in a big way. His passion, knowledge, and real-world experience left a lasting impact, and many of my students walked away feeling more motivated than ever to pursue careers in hospitality. 👨🍳 Having a powerhouse like Phil share his expertise was eye-opening for the Berkmar High School students. Hearing from someone who has navigated and excelled in the industry gave them a deeper understanding of what’s possible and the dedication it takes to succeed.
