NSC applauds the release of the "Saving Lives with Connectivity: A Plan to Accelerate V2X Deployment" roadmap by the United States Department of Transportation. This roadmap lays the groundwork to invite federal and state partners, private industry and safety advocates together to harness the power of wireless technology to save lives on our nation's roadways. In 2022, 46,027 people died in motor vehicle crashes. Preventable deaths like these are unacceptable, and with increased partnership and collaboration, deployment of V2X technology across the transportation and infrastructure network will save lives. #RoadwaySafety #KeepEachOtherSafe Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gjeXe9ba.

The roads in Texas are a little bit safer because of the work of 15 employers recognized by the National Safety Council as safety champions through the annual Our Driving Concern Texas Employer Traffic Safety Awards program. #RoadwaySafety #KeepEachOtherSafe "That’s zero crashes, zero injuries and zero fatalities – our ultimate goal. They have implemented evidence-based policies and comprehensive workplace safety programs. They’re saving money and saving lives. They’re proof that road safety is good for business and good for people," said Katie Mueller, NSC Senior Program Manager leading the Our Driving Concern program. NSC applauds the enactment of legislation in Illinois making opioid overdose reversal medication, such as #naloxone, accessible in State workplaces when training on use and administration are available. Nationally, overdoses account for nearly 1 in 10 worker deaths on the job and have increased by more than 600% since 2011. With tens of thousands of people employed by the State of Illinois, this law is a step towards saving lives on the job. #WorkplaceSafety Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gQ6mCGZH.

NSC Launched the #RespondReady Workplace Program last year with the goal of better understanding the landscape of #naloxone in workplaces, attitudes toward substance use and to identify opportunities to help #KeepEachOtherSafe on the job. In January of this year, NSC surveyed more than 500 employers and 800 employees. In analyzing the survey results, the main theme was disconnection – between awareness and adoption, community and workplace, support and stigma. Learn more about the key findings here: https://lnkd.in/dYkS_zdd.
