Join our team! The National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) is now accepting applications for a two-year virtual fellowship award in Digital Archives and Communications. Applicants should have a strong interest in women’s history, communications, public history, digital archives, and/or museum studies and the applications of these fields outside of academia. Functioning within the Communications Team, the awardee will support the Museum’s efforts to commemorate the U.S. semiquincentennial in 2026, as well as our role as the exclusive National Resource Partner for Women’s History to the America250 Commission. Specifically, the awardee will help re-imagine and facilitate our signature Chronicles of American Women initiative, which seeks to solicit, share, and archive short public biographies of contemporary American women in advance of the semiquincentennial. The awardee will also contribute to the development and dissemination of other NWHM content and communications programming and initiatives related to the semiquincentennial. The exhibition focuses on the stories and voices of Black feminist organizers and theorists—including Anna Julia Cooper, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Mary Treadwell, and Nkenge Touré—whose expansive work made a difference in the lives of Black women in their Washington, DC communities and for all people throughout the United States. In this pivotal position, you will lead and oversee a range of innovative educational programs and strategic initiatives, including the development of exhibitions, designed to engage diverse audiences both virtually and in person. With a strong commitment to women's history education, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to create impactful programs, develop exhibitions, and manage education team members to further the Museum’s mission. The position is based in Washington, D.C., but remote/virtual candidates are welcome with the understanding that domestic travel will be necessary.
