Real Time Crime Center News: Real-time crime center helps Glendale (Ariz.) police ‘do more with less,’ chief says Real-time crime center technology integrated with other resources can help improve public-safety agencies improve efficiency while enhancing the safety of citizens and first responders, according to Glendale (Ariz.) Police Department Chief Chris Briggs. Brigg said the Glendale Police Department has been operating its real-time crime center (RTCC) since 2018, when the center primarily received and processed video from traffic cameras. Today, the Glendale RTCC is able to receive video and sensor information from a variety of sources—from private enterprises to public schools—while being able to integrate such information with real-time data from 911 calls through the RTCC’s CommandCentral Aware platform from Motorola Solutions, he said. Being able to accept, process and evaluate all of these information sources on a single platform has proven to be a powerful solution—the kind of offering that the Glendale police department seeks, Brigg said. “We are committed to being on the edge of technology, if it makes sense,” Briggs said during an interview with IWCE’s Urgent Communications. “There’s a lot of technology that’s kind of cool to have, but if it doesn’t provide safety, situational awareness to the officers, or make us more efficient or timely in our response to the community, then it probably doesn’t make sense. “That’s how we look at technology. How does it better serve us to serve our community, and do it in a safer, more efficient manner?” A key enhancement for the Glendale police department has been the ability for the RTCC personnel to listen to 911 calls in real time—through Motorola Solutions’ VESTA 9-1-1 and SmartTranscription solutions—to jumpstart responses, according to Briggs. “Our operators in the center can now either listen or read transcripts as a call is coming in through the 911, so they’re getting information before the dispatcher gets it and certainly before the officers get it,” he said. #RTCC #RealTimeCrimeCenter #AZ #publicsafety #publicsafetysoftware #publicsafetynews #firstresponders #LE #Lawenforcement #MotorolaSolutions #Motorola Motorola Solutions READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE--> https://hubs.li/Q02VTt280

Public Safety Software News: Flock Safety buys DFR firm Aerodome The company also announced plans to launch a new suite of drones within the next 12 months following the takeover US law enforcement technology company Flock Safety has announced its acquisition of Aerodome, a drone as first responder (DFR) firm. The takeover brings Flock into the drone sector for the first time, and will be used to enhance the company’s range of products for law enforcement. Flock stated that the acquisition accelerates its plans to introduce a suite of National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliant drones within the next year. The company added that in combination with its existing suite of solutions – including license plate recognition (LPR) cameras, gunshot detection sensors, and real-time crime center (RTCC) software – the DFR drones would allow agencies to identify and respond to threats more rapidly than ever. “Anyone who’s seen a DFR program in action knows that this technology will play a central role in the future of public safety,” said Garrett Langley, Founder and CEO of Flock Safety. “By combining Aerodome’s best-in-class DFR technology with Flock Safety’s existing suite of rapid response solutions, we’re taking a big step forward in our mission to protect communities and eliminate crime.” Oklahoma City – the capital of the US state of the same name – recently approved funds to expand its fleet of emergency service drones. #FlockSafety #Flock #drone #publicsafety #publicsafetysoftware #publicsafetytechnology #Aerodome #Aerodomedrone #Technology #dronetechnology #RTCC #realtimecrimecenter #OKC #OklahomaCity #crimeprevention Read the article here--> https://hubs.li/Q02Vph4s0

Public Safety Software News: Mark43 announces BriefAI and ReportAI Mark43 BriefAI, an AI-powered case summarization tool, rapidly distills the key facts of a case to accelerate investigations Mark43, the leading cloud-native public safety software provider, today announced Mark43 ReportAI and Mark43 BriefAI, two AI-powered tools to transform the efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of public safety operations. Public safety agencies nationwide face increasing staffing challenges and are being tasked with doing more with fewer resources. Report writing, while essential to public safety work, often pulls officers away from their focus on community safety. Investigations are often slowed by fragmented information sharing and the time-consuming task of reviewing lengthy case files to identify key facts and leads. With BriefAI and ReportAI, these challenges are transformed into opportunities for efficiency. By automating case summarization, investigators can quickly distill critical information, accelerating decision-making, assignment and improving case outcomes. ReportAI enhances the accuracy and quality of reports, freeing up valuable time for officers, and ultimately empowering first responders to focus on solving crimes and public safety. “Our vision is to completely transform public safety by delivering the most advanced, cloud-native platform that serves as the real-time operating system for every agency,” said Robert Hughes, CEO of Mark43. “Only Mark43 offers a cloud-native, modern integrated CAD and RMS, enabling first responders to operate with peak efficiency and effectiveness. With solutions like BriefAI and ReportAI, we are revolutionizing how agencies manage information, empowering officers to focus on what truly matters—protecting and building safer communities. This is a new era for public safety, and Mark43 is leading the way.” #publicsafety #publicsafetysoftware #publicsafetytechnology #technology #AI #AITechnology #reporting #lawenforcement #cloudnative #investigations #Mark43 #Computeraideddispatch #CAD #RMS #Recordsmanagementsystem #information #police1 #police1magazine Robert Hughes, Wendy Gilbert, Matthew Polega Read the full article here--> https://hubs.li/Q02T66JP0

Public Safety Software News: 10/9/2024 Oakland, Calif., to Decide on ShotSpotter Contract The fate of the Oakland Police Department's ShotSpotter program remained uncertain Tuesday after some council members expressed doubt about the value of the gunshot-detection system. The Public Safety Committee voted 2-1 to send to the full City Council a new $2.5 million, three-year contract with SoundThinking, the company behind ShotSpotter , which was deployed in Oakland in 2006. But Council member Jananira Ramachandran, who voted no, and Council member Carroll Fife, who stepped away just before the vote, said they weren't convinced the technology is worth the city's investment. The City Council will weigh the contract next Tuesday. The consideration of a new contract comes as other cities across the country also rethink ShotSpotter's value. Police officials say the technology alerts them to shooting scenes, allowing officers to provide swift medical aid to gunshot victims. Many times no one calls police to report the shootings, police and SoundThinking (formerly ShotSpotter) officials say. In the past three years, ShotSpotter directed police to 386 victims in shootings that were not called in within 15 minutes and within 1,000 feet of sensors, according to SoundThinking. Police leaders also say ShotSpotter provides valuable intel on shootings that support the city's Ceasefire strategy. A key goal of the effort is to identify groups engaged in conflict to prevent shootings. Critics, however, say ShotSpotter does little to deter gun violence or solve crimes. Oakland police officers took reports in connection with just 22% of the alerts last year, according to OPD data. On Tuesday, the Public Safety Committee heard from two dozen community members. A little more than half spoke against ShotSpotter. Several supporters said they believe the technology saves lives, especially because many times residents, afraid of retaliation, don't call 911. Several critics said a better use of city funds is to invest in community-led efforts that prevent shootings, such as housing and mental health programs. "One life saved is a positive outcome," she said. #ShotSpotter #publicsafety #publicsafetysoftware #publicsafetytechnology #OaklandCA #OaklandCalifornia #OaklandPD #OaklandPolice #PoliceDepartment #cime #crimereporting Treva Reid Brandon Johnson Read the full article here--> https://hubs.li/Q02SXBYK0
