I’m excited to share that we’re gaining strong traction with venture capitalists and private equity firms, and we’re close to securing funding to bring back eight teams for the National Soccer League. I've also put together a few points on why this may not be the right investment for everyone—it’s all part of being transparent about our vision and risks. Our Wefunder campaign is open, but it requires a minimum of $50,000 to process the crowdfund, so we’re inviting those interested to join us at this foundational stage. Early supporters will have a ‘seat on the bus’ as we set the league in motion and build toward our larger goals. Importantly, no funds will be drawn until we have a confirmed $15 million commitment from at least one team, so your investment is safeguarded until we reach a major milestone. On 26 September 1981, the Chicago Sting and New York Cosmos played 105 minutes of scoreless soccer and 4 rounds of a tense shootout before Rudy Glenn scored the go-ahead goal and goalkeeper Dieter Ferner blocked Robert Iarusci's final attempt to give Chicago a 1-0 win in Soccer Bowl '81. Sting defender Frantz Mathieu was named Man of the Match as Chicago captured the first title in history - and the first for the City of Chicago since the Bears won the NFL Championship in 1963 - before 36,971 at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. The Los Angeles Aztecs were more than just a soccer team—they were a cultural phenomenon. During their brief existence from 1974 to 1981, the Aztecs left an indelible mark on American soccer and introduced a style of play that captivated fans across the nation. Now, as the National Soccer League™ embarks on a mission to relaunch this iconic club, we have the chance to witness a revival of not only a legendary team but also an entire era of American soccer. And I, as a passionate fan and admirer of great players like George Best and Johan Cruyff I couldn’t be more excited. Fans have the opportunity to invest in the LA Aztecs today. We will not withdraw any funds from Wefunder for the individual clubs until we’ve secured a committed sponsor or operator capable of funding the teams for at least three years, ensuring long-term stability and confidence in the project. Based on MLS valuation metrics, the team’s break-even value is projected to be between $50–$60 million.

With a partnership with retro soccer brand Stylo Matchmakers® we are set to bring back its iconic original teams with a fresh, retro-inspired twist. Combining vintage fashion with modern sport, these reimagined teams will feature throwback kit designs that capture the spirit of each clubs early days. Happy birthday to paul cannell (number 9), the bad-boy striker who rose to stardom at Newcastle United (1973-78) but became a celebrity in the NASL, scoring 45 goals in 109 games with the Washington Diplomats (1976-79, 1981) and Memphis Rogues (1980), finishing as the 36th leading goalscorer in NASL history, reaching the 1980 NASL Indoor finals and earning widespread media attention for "mooning" a referee during an NASL match in 1978.

Every year, around 25,000 NCAA men's soccer players across all divisions—Division I, II, and III—chase the dream of playing in Major League Soccer. Yet, the harsh reality is that making it to the elite level is a one-in-a-million shot. Despite the immense talent and dedication on display, most players will never reach the MLS, their dreams thwarted by the fierce competition and limited opportunities.
