About us
The Natural Products Association (NPA), founded in 1936, is the largest and oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to the natural products industry. NPA represents over 1,900 members accounting for more than 10,000 retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors of natural products, including foods, dietary supplements, and health/beauty aids. As the leading voice of the natural products industry, NPA’s mission is to advocate for the rights of consumers to have access to products that will maintain and improve their health, and for the rights of retailers and suppliers to sell these products. Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D. "The notion that a botanical, like hemp, cannot fit into the structure provided by DSHEA or other parts of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act already in effect is a complete slap in the face to the work of Senators Orrin Hatch and Tom Harkin to ensure DSHEA was unanimously approved." https://lnkd.in/eFMVK5aJ

Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D. "It sets a precedent that I think is important for the industry. The notion that this [notice-and-comment rulemaking] can’t be done in the future is completely erased from this. We’re 30 years after DSHEA where like on CBD parts of the agency threw their hands up and [said], ‘Well we don’t know what to do?’ And we’ve been like, ‘Well, you can write a reg. You have that ability in law.’” https://lnkd.in/e8CMg-_V

Good morning/afternoon. My colleague Hank Schultz asked a few of the trade groups about the implications for the dietary supplement industry if Sen. Mark Kelly was tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris to be her running mate in the upcoming contest for the White House. The senator from Arizona knows about supplements, having been paid by Shaklee for promotional activities. Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D. “NPA remains deeply concerned with this misguided and unnecessary approach to dietary supplements, which are safe and heavily regulated. "This proposal has been rejected repeatedly because it’s bad for consumers and bad for American manufacturers and retailers and it should be rejected again.” https://lnkd.in/eZR3hmus
