    With the holiday season just around the corner, we’d like to talk about a common frustration: sticking to your dietary goals during all of the fun winter festivities. Let’s be honest—a lot of the time, it’s just not easy! So, we need to get one thing clear first. There’s no such thing as “perfection” when it comes to #healthyeating! Study after study after study has found that the harder you try to eat “perfectly,” the more likely you are to spiral into shame and bad habits. You need practical strategies that don’t make you feel like you’re missing out. Here are some that have worked for us recently: 1. Focus on mindful eating. Try not to eat cookies while you’re wrapped up in a Christmas movie, for example. Pay attention to the flavors and really enjoy your treats! 🍪 2. Don’t show up starving at gatherings. Having a light, healthy snack before you leave home can help you avoid that third serving of pie (and not be sad about it!) 🥧 3. Meal plan around your events.     The more #freshproduce you have in your kitchen, the more likely you are to deal with fruit flies—and they can be a pain to get rid of! We have a trick in our family that’s always worked wonders, and we’d like to share it with you. (We definitely didn’t invent this, to be clear! But it’s the most effective option we’ve ever tried.) You’ll need a glass jar or cup, apple cider vinegar, dish soap, and plastic wrap or a piece of paper and tape. To set up the trap: 🍎Pour an inch or two of apple cider vinegar into the jar/cup. 🫧Add just a couple drops of dish soap to the vinegar. Don’t mix. 🫙If you have plastic wrap, place it over the mouth of the jar and poke a few holes. 📜Of if you have a piece of paper, roll it into a cone and tape the edge together. Insert the smaller end into the jar, but don’t let it come into contact with the liquid. That’s it! Whether you use plastic wrap or the paper, fruit flies will be able to get in… but they can’t get out afterwards. Once the flies are gone from your kitchen, dismantle the trap and enjoy your pest-free kitchen. #NatureJims #DIYsolutions #ByeByeFruitFlies #TuesdayTip

    Ever find yourself tossing and turning at night, unable to fall or stay asleep? The culprit might be hiding in your diet. That's right—what you eat (and when) can have a significant impact on your sleep quality! 🌙 Nutrition and sleep are intricately linked. Certain foods can either support or disrupt your body's natural sleep-wake cycle. For example, meals high in refined carbs and unhealthy fats may cause blood sugar spikes and crashes that fragment your sleep. On the other hand, foods rich in tryptophan, magnesium and melatonin can actually promote better rest! 😴 💤 Timing is also key. Eating a heavy, high-fat meal too close to bedtime can overwhelm your digestive system, making it harder to fall asleep.
