Small business remains a top priority for NAVWAR, and this year’s NDIA Gold Coast conference proved just that! With numerous matchmaking sessions held with representatives from DON PEO Digital, DON PEO C4I and DON PEO MLB and two booths on the main exhibit floor, 1NAVWAR small business experts networked with attendees all throughout the three-day event to de-mystify the contracting process as much as possible. Last Thursday, DON PEO C4I partnered with NAVWAR, DON PEO MLB, San Diego Small Business Development Center, U.S. Small Business Administration, Department of the Navy Office of Small Business Programs, APEX Accelerators, State of California Employment Training Panel, and Information Warfare Research Project Consortium to host over 100 small business during the 3rd Annual PEO C4I Small Business Fair held on the NAVWAR campus. The Hon. Nickolas Guertin served as the keynote speaker. After his presentation, the businesses enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the 11 program offices from PEO C4I and the other participating entities for engaging, informative, and collaborative conversations. "What a great event for small business to get to interact with PEO C4I," noted C. D. "Boris" Becker, former NAVWAR commander and now a small business owner himself. "Dr. Luebke and his team put together and executed an outstanding event; I can see why it's grown so quickly. When the guest speaker is ASN/RDA, it's clear that the DoN is serious about the impact of small business on the critical mission of PEO C4I."

Today, PEO C4I welcomed over 100 small businesses from 12 different states to our 3rd annual Small Business Fair held on the NAVWAR campus in San Diego. Dr. Bill Luebke, Program Executive Officer, Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence, welcomed our attendees to the fair. He was followed by Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, the Hon. Nickolas Guertin, who provided an engaging keynote speech. After Secretary Guertin’s remarks, the small business owners participated in a meet-and-greet session with all 11 of PEO C4I’s program offices as well as representatives from APEX Accelerators, San Diego Small Business Development Center, U.S. Small Business Administration, State of California Employment Training Panel (ETP), Department of the Navy Office of Small Business Programs, NAVWAR SBO and SBIR, NAVWAR 2.0, DON PEO MLB and Information Warfare Research Project Consortium (IWRP). Our Small Business Fair was designed three years ago from the ground up to be a communication event, striving for maximum mutual understanding of the Navy's needs and small businesses' capabilities. The event highlights PEO C4I’s steadfast commitment to our small business partners. One small business owner, attending his first PEO C4I Small Business Fair noted, “I will be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the senior staff you had included and the intimate venue which allowed us to ask some questions directly and hopefully help the US Navy. I look forward to next year!” As Secretary of the Navy, the Honorable Carlos Del Toro recently stated, “Small businesses are the foundation of our Department’s ability to provide the capabilities and services we need to support our Sailors, Marines, civilians, and their families stationed around the globe—from providing them with quality-of-life services to ensuring our deployed personnel have the capabilities they need to be successful in their assigned missions.” If you attended this year’s PEO C4I Small Business Fair, we hope you enjoyed it. We look forward to welcoming more small businesses for our 4th annual PEO C4I Small Business Fair in 2025!

Today, we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of women who have broken barriers and built bridges in every field, including here at NAVWAR.  🚺 From engineers and scientists to leaders (ahem, our very first female commander, RADM Seiko Okano 🎉) and innovators, women are an integral part of our mission to advance the US Navy's technological edge. Equality isn't just a value—it's a strategic imperative that drives innovation and strengthens our workforce. 💪 #WomensEqualityDay #BreakingBarriers #BuildingBridges #NAVWAR #Empowerment

We take immense pride in celebrating our diverse heritage while pushing the boundaries of innovation. Members of #NIWCAtlantic’s American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) Employment Team recently participated in the 47th Annual Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe Powwow at the Dorchester Heritage Center in Ridgeville, South Carolina. This was more than a cultural celebration—it was an opportunity to connect with our community and inspire future leaders in STEM. Our team introduced the "Code Talkers" initiative, paying tribute to the heroic Native American code talkers who played a critical role in our military history. We also showcased the use of the Caesar cipher disk, a tool used to teach students the basics of encryption—linking the past to the future by demonstrating the timeless importance of secure communication. By engaging with young minds at the Powwow, we’re not just honoring the legacy of these code talkers—we’re inspiring a new generation to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion strengthens our Navy and ensures we remain on the cutting edge. Together, we’re building a Navy that reflects the values, history, and talents of all who serve! The 1NAVWAR team was proud to participate in this year's #NDIAGoldCoast conference, focused on "Leveraging Small Business Capabilities to Seize Opportunities for Strengthening National Security." 💪🔐 Small business partnerships remain a key priority for the entire 1NAVWAR team, so of course we had leaders and other reps from NAVWAR HQ, NIWC Pacific, DON PEO Digital, DON PEO MLB , and DON PEO C4I in attendance, showcasing our collective commitment to small business engagement. All three PEOs participated in the small business matchmaking event where they met with dozens of small businesses, fostering new opportunities and collaborations. Mark Compton, NAVWAR chief information security officer (CISO) contributed to a cyber tract panel, discussing how the California Advanced Defense Ecosystems & National Consortia Effort (CADENCE) program bolsters defense organizations. Additionally, our director of Office of Small Business Programs, Kimberly Reidy, shared insights during the "What is DoN buying?" panel. Together, we are building stronger, more secure partnerships for the future. Do you work for a small business that attended the event? What did you think? #SmallBusiness #NationalSecurity #1NAVWAR #Cybersecurity #DoN #FutureNavy #SupportSmallBusiness #NIWCPacific #PEOC4I #PEODigital #PEOMLB

We’re excited to celebrate the outstanding South Carolina students recognized in the 2024 ArcGIS Online School Competition! This achievement was made possible through the strong partnership between our #NIWCAtlantic STEM Outreach team and the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness (SC Competes). Together, we’re inspiring the next generation of tech leaders by empowering them to solve real-world challenges through geographic analysis. The ArcGIS event is a student mapping competition presented by Esri and the National Council for Geographic Education. It challenges students nationwide to showcase their skills in geographic information systems (GIS) using Esri’s ArcGIS online platform. NIWC Atlantic’s STEM Outreach Program began hosting the ArcGIS competition in 2020, when volunteers stepped up to serve as the state team. SC Competes came aboard in 2022 to provide additional administrative and marketing support, including outreach to schools statewide. Special kudos to the state winner Baxter Bailey for his exemplary project on "Visualizing South Carolina's Ranking." Congratulations to all of the winners! Keep pushing the boundaries of innovation! #GIS #Innovation #STEM #competition A list of the winners and more about the competition at the link: https://lnkd.in/ex4cKzgX

🚢 Spotlight on Innovation: We are driving AI innovation in the fleet! 🚢 During the USS TARAWA Salvage Exercise (SALVEX), an important Navy exercise that simulates controlled ship damage to test and refine new repair techniques, #NIWCPacific's Chief Engineer collaborated with Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division to deploy "ChatIHD," a generative AI chatbot trained on ship-specific data. This game-changing tool gave Sailors instant access to critical information, streamlining repair processes and enhancing readiness. 🤖 🛠 The next evolution? **ChatIT**—an advanced AI tool that will bring the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) directly to the fleet. Designed for the afloat environment, ChatIT will enable warfighters to quickly access ship-specific data and other critical information, revolutionizing operational efficiency. ⚓ #NAVWAR #Innovation #ArtificialIntelligence #DataDriven #SALVEX #FleetReadiness #ChatIT #FutureNavy #NavyReadiness
