NC Sustainable Energy Association is spearheading an effort to mobilize solar and batteries for Western NC relief. As they build, they’ll be creating recovery pathways for the solar installers whose businesses have been horribly disrupted. Please join us in donating money or resources. Thanks to NCHFA for hosting the lively discussion of how affordable housing developers can access Inflation Reduction Act resources to the benefit of low-wealth households. NCCEF Co-Director Melissa Malkin-Weber and State Energy Office Deputy Director Tracy Dixon got to share resources. Highly recommended: check out EnergizeNC.org to get on the list and be informed when stakeholder input starts gearing up later this year.

The NCCEF team was fortunate to have the opportunity to build our awareness of some of NC’s small town challenges and their incredible community spirit when we visited the Town of Davidson and the surrounding North Mecklenburg towns of Cornelius and Huntersville to learn from their communities about their needs and values. A big thank you to the Ada Jenkins Center for the ongoing work they do and for taking us on the “Need in the North” tour to educate us on the history of the underserved communities of this area and the challenges they face. Thank you to the Mastercard Strive team for inviting us to share the stage with Mountain BizWorks, Carolina Community Impact, and Prospera USA, talking about how green capital can benefit small businesses and communities!
Director, Strive USA | Advancing economic justice, pursuing equity, expanding opportunity | Views are my own
"They say you have to work smarter, not harder — but we have to do both in order to support entrepreneurs in the rural areas we serve” — Matt Raker, Executive Director of Mountain BizWorks. With unprecedented federal funding flowing to #SmallBusinesses, how do we ensure that implementation of these programs is tailored to the unique contexts of different regions and break through the "not-from-here" trust barrier that exists in many communities? This was one of many critical topics discussed yesterday at the Mastercard Strive USA Summit at ArtSpace in downtown #Raleigh. From supporting smaller #CDFIs working in high-poverty communities, to building capacity and infrastructure to connect historic funding with opportunity, and addressing the needs of the #NorthCarolina small business ecosystem, the conversations were timely, energizing, and vital. Stay tuned for a full recap soon! #FinancialInclusion #InclusiveGrowth Shamina Singh Sandy Fernandez Melissa Malkin-Weber José D. Alvarez Joe Battle

We’re working with qualified solar installers in North Carolina to offer a financing product that allows more people to take advantage of clean energy incentives like the available 30% federal tax credit and Duke's PowerPair program. NCCEF financing has low fees, transparent terms and is available for people with the ability to make the monthly payments, regardless of credit score. Financing is offered through a partnership with SELF (Solar and Energy Loan Fund), which has a long track record of serving moderate-income households. To find a list of solar installers approved to offer NCCEF financing visit: Residential Solar — North Carolina Clean Energy Fund (https://lnkd.in/et6-Vqtq) North Carolina based installers who are interested in partnering with NCCEF can also find the information they need to apply on that page!
