About us
The Northern California Behavioral Health System (NCBHS) is a comprehensive mental health services delivery system offering inpatient and outpatient services at various levels of care. The System consists of two hospital campuses, one each in the Santa Rosa and Sacramento areas. Santa Rosa Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SRBHH) was opened in 2013, and is regarded as an integral part of the greater Santa Rosa and Northern California mental health system of care. Conveniently located in the North Bay, this hospital consists of 144 acute psychiatric inpatient beds and an outpatient treatment center. Sacramento Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (SBHH) is a new facility located near downtown Sacramento. As the first newly constructed psychiatric hospital in Northern California in more than 30 years, this hospital offers 117 inpatient acute psychiatric beds, an outpatient treatment center, and a procedures clinic providing electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) and other interventional psychiatry services. Both hospitals offer a full range of individualized treatment services for youth, teens, adults, and senior adults, including treatment for mental health and co-occurring (mental health and substance abuse) disorders. Additional services include mental health and substance abuse screening, assessment, crisis intervention, consultation, education, and individual and group counseling.

Social media is a double-edged sword. It connects us, but it can also harm our mental health. Scrolling through curated feeds can lead to comparison, anxiety, and stress. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by social media, try setting limits on your usage. Unfollow accounts that negatively impact your self-esteem. Use social media intentionally by following profiles that inspire positivity and promote mental wellness. Taking a break from screens and focusing on real-life connections can be exactly what your mind needs. #kindness #service #healing https://ow.ly/jPrL50TBEtR

As the seasons change, so can your mental health. Here are some tips to help you cope: ● Stay Active: Regular physical activity can boost your mood and energy levels. ● Get Plenty of Light: Spend time outdoors or use a light therapy box to combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD). ● Maintain a Routine: Consistent sleep and mealtimes can provide stability and comfort. These strategies can help you manage the transition and maintain your mental health. Embrace the seasonal changes and find joy in the small moments. Preparing for these changes can make the transition smoother and boost your mental well-being. #kindness #service #healing https://ow.ly/76Bx50TkjU1

Every day, there are approximately 3,041 suicide attempts by young people in grades 9-12. Yet, this isn’t talked about nearly enough due to stigmas and taboos. Too many people of all ages – children, teens, and adults – face suicide and who could have received help. To combat this “silent epidemic” of suicide, September has been designated as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. During this month, mental health advocates, suicide survivors, allies, and the community at large come together to spread awareness of the scope of this problem and encourage open dialogue about what each of us can do to lessen this problem. By working together, we hope to be a lifeline for those struggling and help save lives. Learn more here: https://ow.ly/H8GB50TjgeP #kindness #service #healing
