A new study published by the Nemours Children’s osteogenesis imperfecta (Ol) team, challenges previous assumptions about OI, a rare genetic condition often considered fatal before birth. The research suggests that with specialized treatment, many of these children can not only survive—but thrive. That’s exactly what Koa is doing today, thanks to the care he receives at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware. His mother, Viana, was once told he wouldn’t make it—but at Nemours, she found a team offering hope and innovative treatments.
