About us

The North East PA-Health Care Coalition is a collaborative network of health care agencies and public and private partners to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from an emergency, mass casualty or catastrophic event. The NEPA-HCC also serves as the Health, Medical and EMS Committee of the Northeast Pennsylvania Regional Counter-Terrorism Task Force (NECTTF). The primary function of the NEPA-HCC is regional healthcare system emergency preparedness activities involving the health and medical members. This includes planning, organizing, equipping, training, exercises, and evaluation. Member agencies from an eight (8) county region include, but are not limited to, public health, hospitals, health networks, EMS, home health, long-term care, behavioral health, emergency management, non-governmental agencies, clinical laboratories, blood banks, MRC, CERT, etc. The NEPA-HCC conducts quarterly meetings, and throughout the year, it provides opportunities for agencies to participate in training, exercises, drills, and network with community preparedness and emergency response partners. The eight counties include Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, and Lackawanna.

  • The NEHCC participated in the PHCA conference last week at the Wind Creek Conference Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A shout out to Melissa Shafer from Gracedale Nursing Home and Kate Huck and Michelle Haughney from the LVHN Transitional Skilled Unit who helped staff the coalition booth during the event. I was also lucky enough to co-present with Candace McMullen and Tammy Coleman from Affinity Health Services on an emergency relocation event that occurred earlier this year. I cant stress enough how nice it is to be able to interact with people in-person!

  • The healthcare coalition collaborated with Temple University Harrisburg to offer several grant writing workshops. Over the past few years, we discovered that many of our coalition partners are unfamiliar with the available grants and the application process. We aim to help these organizations utilize alternative funding opportunities to undertake projects that will better equip themselves and their communities. As we strive to enhance regional capabilities, we hope to educate our coalition partners on seeking funding opportunities beyond what the coalition provides.
