2 weeks to go until #COP29!   The global commitment to at least triple nuclear capacity came from the #NetZeroNuclear movement that was launched last year at #COP28. The need for clean, reliable, 24/7 energy from nuclear has never been in more demand.    We are excited to be part of the global conversations that are on the agenda at COP29 Azerbaijan . In order to triple nuclear capacity and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, we must find innovative financial solutions, and crucially make then equitable for all, in order to build a clean, sustainable future.   #NetZero #ClimateFinance #NuclearEnergy

Over this week in Singapore, World Nuclear Association took the message of Net Zero Nuclear to Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2024. The theme was a connected and sustainable energy world, and global energy leaders gathered to focus on how to accelerate the energy transition whilst ensuring a clean, affordable, reliable future energy mix. Sama Bilbao y Leon, Director General of World Nuclear Association joined a Summit panel on the opening day of the conference to analyse the impact of carbon pricing, emissions trading schemes, and carbon markets on mobilising investment for low-carbon energy infrastructure. Later in the week, Dr Bilbao y León joined an Energy Insights panel to discuss the critical challenge of ensuring that the shift to sustainable energy is equitable, inclusive, and beneficial for all segments of society. Dr Jonathan Cobb, Senior Programme Lead for Climate World Nuclear Association joined a Thinktank Roundtable to explore the role of nuclear energy in a net zero Asia. In addition, he talked about the importance of bringing together the policy setting of governments, the expertise of the nuclear industry and the investment that will come from the financial community. As the leading voice for the need to at least triple nuclear capacity and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, it was fantastic to be part of the global conversation at #SIEW2024. #NetZeroNuclear

Jamaica, one of the 25 countries that signed the Declaration to Triple Nuclear Energy Capacity at #COP28, has now taken the next step towards getting some of the energy their country needs from nuclear. Jamaica signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) focusing on nuclear research and development.   AECL also supported the ambition to at least triple nuclear capacity by 2050 by signing the Industry Pledge at COP28. This pledge has been signed by over 130 companies who believe that nuclear energy is critical for a successful global transition to clean energy.   This shows the impact that the Net Zero Nuclear movement is having, and how important it is to have a strong voice representing the nuclear industry throughout global energy and climate events, showcasing the benefits of nuclear to countries like Jamaica that are looking to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and introduce nuclear as a clean, reliable energy source into their national energy mix.   Join us as a Strategic Partner today to help us continue to demonstrate the essential role of nuclear energy as the world looks to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.   #NetZeroNuclear
