Breaking down clinical studies related to psychedelic science, functional medicine, and mental health.
About us
America is facing a mental health crisis. Over 25% of Americans have a diagnosed mental health disorder and 50% fail to respond to currently available therapies. Many more face unpleasant side effects from long term use of prescription anti-depressants such as low libido, changes in appetite or sleep, or even anhedonia. Other solutions are needed and the time is now to look beyond traditional pharmacotherapies. We believe in the promise of psychedelic medicine to help individuals struggling with major depressive disorder, PTSD, or even other chronic health conditions such as traumatic brain injury, chronic migraines, cluster headaches, and chronic Lyme disease. The MAPP2 clinical trial already demonstrated that among patients with severe, treatment resistant PTSD provided with assisted therapy with MDMA, 67% achieved symptom remission at the end of the 18 week trial and 88% demonstrated clinically significant symptom improvement. The anecdotal evidence collected from hundreds of veterans who have gone outside the United States, or gone through the "underground" to try psychedelic assisted therapy also speaks to their benefit and safety profile when used in a controlled setting. The Neural Pharm was founded to provide the latest safety and evidence around psychedelics and alternative mental health therapies to promote safe use, minimize the risk of drug interactions, and provide answers to questions from clinicians and patients. We also seek to explore solutions to the nation's longevity crisis, which is intertwined with the mental health crisis. The US ranks 43rd in life expectancy, and stands almost alone among developed nations in that our average life span is trending down, not up. We want to reverse the trend by promoting healthy, sustainable dietary advice and safety and efficacy data on supplements. We will be the one stop shop for mental and physical wellness, and at the forefront we will be committed to helping those who have served our nation!

Today we not only celebrate the Summer solstice, the longest day of the year, we also celebrate the fourth anniversary of World Psychedelics Day. The purpose of WPD is to increase awareness and appreciation of psychedelics therapeutic potential and honor traditional knowledge. 65% of Americans want expanded access to psychedelics, and movements like this day help to bring recognition into the mainstream. To learn more about WPD and psychedelics as medicine, check out this recent Pharmacy Times audio interview featuring the President and co-founder of Psychedelic Pharmacists Association https://lnkd.in/gsa_f4Kh #WPD620 #WorldPsychedelicsDay

The year 2024 appears to be shaping up to be a big year for substances that were once schedule I. Cannabis is perhaps the first chess piece to be moved. Federal law changes seemed long overdue considering cannabis had already been legalized for recreational consumption in 24 states and for medicinal consumption in 38 states but this represents a major modification to the status quo, one that will hopefully make it easier for those in the cannabis industry to raise capital, and be able to purchase insurance for their business. It also will be a big change to the medical profession, as we can stop pretending that cannabis has no medical benefit, and start recognizing it as a legitimate option for a variety of mental health and pain management conditions. In my own opinion however, there is a massive educational gap that will still need to be bridged as schools deliver very little clinical information on cannabis to students. If you are a pharmacist, or other medical professional interested in a course on cannabis to include the basics on pharmacology, side effects, product and extract comparisons, and information on efficacy, PM me or comment below. https://lnkd.in/gzfsVaS9

Phenomenal interview with Matthew Buckley, founder of No Fallen Heroes, about mental health among military service members, first responders, and veterans, and the benefits of psychedelic assisted therapy in addressing the mental health crisis in America. While the stigma against seeking care is real, it seems thanks to organizations like this we are making strides forward. https://lnkd.in/gjTdgab9
