I post a lot about how Neurolens has helped a tremendous amount of patients, but I have never shared my own story on how Neurolens literally changed my life. I suffered from headaches since I was a child and throughout the years my migraines and chronic headaches got immensely worse, to the point where I was missing out on family activities, work, normal day-to-day routines with my three kids, or I miserably suffered through the day, not really recalling what I was doing. Keep in mind that I was already working in eyecare and had worn glasses since the 4th grade, contacts since high school. I will never forget the day that I received a call from Neurolens asking if I'd be interested in helping them launch Neurolens in the Northeast. I was extremely happy where I was, a large optical medical device company, and I needed Neurolens to prove to me that they worked before I accepted the position, after all, Neurolens was a newer solution in the optical world! I had the experience of sitting in the big NMD1 device (we have since evolved to a Virtual Reality Headset) to be measured for eye misalignment, and low and behold, was measured at a 3 exo at distance, and 9 exo at near. At that point, I didn't understand how that was causing my discomfort and chronic headaches. They taught me what "contoured prism" is and how it could help with my symptoms and prescribed me a pair of single vision contoured prism lens. Here's what most don't understand...I wear single vision lens for distance, but my misalignment is clearly far worse at near - and this is absolutely normal for most! It has nothing to do with your refractive error. Clinical research shows more than 90% of patients have a larger misalignment at near than at distance. Since I wear contact lenses the majority of the day, I ordered a Plano pair with my contoured prism script so I could wear them when working at near during the day. When I remove my contact lenses, I put on my pair of Neurolens that has my regular single vision script along with my Neurolens script. Once I received my pair of Neurolens, I was eager to see the outcome! For some people, they're able to "feel" the effects right away, for me, it was a matter of waiting to see when my next headache was going to hit. Needless to say, they worked! Neurolens has truly changed my quality of life. I am very lucky to be in the position I am and working for a company that is not only helping people see better, but FEEL better. In many cases, preventing surgeries, expensive vision care, on-going therapies, medications, etc! I no longer have to get Botox treatments for my severe headaches and do not have to take my daily migraine medications. My vision is more crisp as well!
