About us
The New Bedford Ocean Cluster is a member of the Iceland Ocean Cluster Network and is focused on industry growth and development, enhancing coastal resilience and network building in the blue tech, fisheries and marine industry sectors. We’ve narrowed our focus to four key areas that we consider the pillars of the NBOC: -Innovation and Technology -Offshore Wind -Aquaculture -Commercial Fishing and Processing These focus areas compliment and grow our historic fishing port, while laying the framework for collaboration and development in related and completely new ocean-based industries. Through the guidance and outline of its strategic plan, the NBOC has identified partners and overlapping sectors of focus with the ultimate goal of supporting the growth of the ocean economy and blue tech sector, and strengthening coastal economic and environmental resilience in the Greater New Bedford region. The NBOC has been working to develop relationships and partnerships with local waterfront and ocean industry businesses and organizations that might serve to bolster New Bedford’s ocean economy and move the NBOC towards its goal of establishing formal membership programs.
