Hatchworks, NEIA’s new incubator space, will also be a place for mentorship talks. Mentorship talks will have internal and external speakers of NEIA in order to get perspective from those outside the building as well as inside. These perspectives will be helpful for the founding Hatchworks teams when advancing their entrepreneurial ideas. Today, Hatchworks had its first mentorship talk, John Turner, Designer in Residence and Brand Director here at NEIA. In 1997, John founded Flannel, a brand and design consulting company. Harvard University would become his first client. Many recognizable companies such as Blizzard, Nordica, Rollerblade, and King Arthur’s Flour turned to him for his help in rebranding their businesses. He has worked with the Tuck School of Business for 13 years, crafting their branding, design, and website. John shared the following about the importance of authenticity when building one’s personal brand, “Personal branding is the unique combination of skills, experiences, and values that define how others perceive you. In today's fast-paced, interconnected world, a strong personal brand is essential for standing out and achieving success. However, authenticity is key. By staying true to your core values and presenting a genuine version of yourself, you build trust and foster meaningful connections. Authenticity helps create a personal brand that resonates with others, ensuring long-term success and credibility. Inauthentic branding may lead to short-term gains, but it rarely sustains lasting impact or influence.” Stay tuned for more mentorship talks with Hatchworks! #NEIA #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #Mentors #Perspective #Incubator

Today marked an exciting and significant day for NEIA's Head of Enrollment, Devin Worthington, and Head of Collaborations and Strategic Partnerships, Lily Fu. They visited our sister school, 杭州娃哈哈外籍人员子女学校学校 Wahaha International School, reconnecting with many members of the NEIA community. A highlight of the day was spending time with NEIA's former science teacher and Director of Middle School and current MYP Coordinator and Science Teacher at Wahaha, Tim McCauley—a heartwarming reunion. They also had the pleasure of meeting with Jane Du, Co-founder, Vice-Chair, and Trustee of NEIA, another important reunion. During their visit, Devin and Lily met with Wahaha's admissions team and gave presentations to students and staff about NEIA’s vision and programs. It’s always a pleasure to return to our sister school, made even more special by seeing familiar faces from the group of students who visited NEIA last spring. #NEIA #Wahaha #SisterSchool #International #GlobalConnections #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #Connection #Reunion #Relationships #Partnerships

A day to remember here at NEIA! Today, we held the breaking ground ceremony for our athletics complex and field. Our community was joined by many individuals who helped make this project a reality. Interim Head of School, Ben Farrell, led the ceremony. We extend our thanks to Mayor J. Christian Dumais for joining us and always supporting our community here on Locke Drive in Marlboro. We also wish to thank Michelle A. Mercier, President and CEO of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce, Luiz Thomaz DaCosta, CEO of Modular Concepts LLC, Meredith Harris, Marlborough Economic Development Corporation, and the teams from Phase Zero Design, Bentley Companies, and Zaino & Associates. Special thanks to our Founding Head of School, J. Thomas Woelper, and Senior Advisor Richard Hardy, for being part of today’s event. We’re grateful to board members Jean Jones, Raymond Chang, Joel Getz, and Jane Du for taking another big step toward making NEIA even stronger. Jean Jones, Co-Founder and Chair of the NEIA board reminded us of the new beginnings this building will bring, asking, “Hosting a FIRST robotics competition, anyone?” Raymond Chang, Co-Founder and Treasurer of NEIA added, “We look forward to sharing this new space not only with the NEIA community but with the entire city of Marlborough.” Special thanks to our Head of Operations, Jennie Chan, along with our Head of Student Life, Gary Dunn, for bringing our athletic dreams to life. Next fall, we will have a full-size high school field, with a complete complex to follow in 2026. This facility will be more than just a place for sports; it will be a hub of energy, teamwork, and school spirit. With cutting-edge features, from high-performance training areas to versatile courts, this athletics complex will foster a vibrant community where champions are made. Get ready to elevate your game at NEIA! Thank you to our staff, parents, guardians, and students for always believing in us and allowing us to grow NEIA into what it has become and will become. NEIA is always striving to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and encouraging their use in innovative ways. This week, Greg Mertz, our Director of Innovation, and Reggie Raye, our Innovation Studio teacher, both attended EmTech at MIT Media Lab, MIT Technology Review's flagship event on emerging technology and trends. Greg reflects on the event, saying, “Massachusetts Institute of Technology's EmTech conference was an inspiring experience that reinforced the necessity of bold, forward-thinking strategies in preparing students for the future. It reaffirmed that the future belongs to those who are curious, compassionate, and fearless in their pursuit of forward-thinking strategies. The deep dives into emerging technologies—like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and climate solutions—illuminated how innovation isn’t just about the latest tools but about cultivating a mindset of curiosity, resilience, and ethical responsibility. For NEIA, the insights gained will propel our mission to create learning environments where students not only explore these transformative fields but are empowered to lead with purpose and impact society for the better.” This reflects NEIA’s ongoing commitment to not only learning about emerging technologies but also integrating them into our curriculum in meaningful ways, ensuring that students are equipped to navigate and shape the future with confidence and responsibility. Thank you to Jossy Lee for always learning with us! #NEIA #EmergingTech #Technology #AI #FutureOfEducation #Learning #EmTechMIT #EmTechMIT2024 #MITTechnologyReview #MIT #MITMediaLab
