Cultivating inclusive job opportunities through the art of farming.

About us

81% of individuals with neurodiversity (cognitive challenges) are unemployed. This leaves this segment of our community isolated. New Growth Project cultivates inclusive job opportunities on our 20-acre chemical-free vegetable farm. Through our peer-mentoring program, our employees identify skills, build new ones, grow in confidence, and become a part of the community.

We are thrilled to be a part of GR Giving Day! This effort to support nonprofits who serve individuals with disabilities will make an impact felt through the community.

📊 Multiple data sources confirm that only 5-7% of all funding goes to support organizations serving people with disabilities in the U.S., while we have an estimated 61 million individuals with disabilities living among us. Those who are underserved in this demographic are disproportionately disadvantaged, often unable to afford the accommodations needed to thrive. I’m super proud that Grand Rapids Giving Day includes three local nonprofits dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities, listed below. 👇 It’s our hope that by elevating these organizations and the important work they do, this issue will no longer stay under the radar. I want to acknowledge our Grand Rapids Community Foundation for supporting Grand Rapids Giving Day and in doing so acting as a true ally to organizations that serve individuals with disabilities. With a megaphone, I’m saying: support these organizations on Giving Tuesday!! Food is medicine! Recently, we were able to help co-host a Mobile Farmer’s Market event in partnership with New Growth Project. The employees and family members of one our customers, Buist, were able to shop for fresh, organic produce and local goods while receiving advice, support, and helpful tips from our clinical team supporting Buist. When we talk about meeting people where they are and changing lives, this partnership is a wonderful example of bridging the gap between traditional care and wellness. We look forward to many more successful partnership opportunities with team at New Growth Project and support our customers along the way.

We are excited to welcome another board member to the New Growth Project. Beth Banta is a natural connector and storyteller. She has a way of bringing to life the mission of the organizations she represents for those who want to see it come to fruition. For the last 13 years, Beth has had the privilege of " storytelling" the Catholic Central experience through the lens of our students/alumni/benefactors and our teachers. Working with such a talented Catholic Central Advancement Office team inspires her. Beth has volunteered at the farm and acted as a consultant for our mission. We are thrilled to have her come aboard in an official capacity. Welcome, Beth Banta!

Community collaboration presents wonderful opportunities to impact the world for good. As an organization, we have been fortunate to meet companies that believe in partnerships to further our mission and assist in supporting those who need it most. It is challenging work, but together, we can make a difference. We are excited to partner with The Village99, Revive and Thrive Project, @CommunityFoodClub, @NorthkentConnect, Chef Jenna Arcidiacono, Cavallo Solutions (Pete Eardley), and more. Because of these partnerships, we can continue our mission to provide jobs for individuals with disabilities while growing nutritious food for the community. We are building a passionate community to make a difference in our city. Thank you.

Community partners like Envizion IT make a huge impact at the farm in just a few hours. We spent the day moving our herb garden making room for expansion, planting seeds, and moving mulch. We even had a volunteer chopping wood for our wood burner in our greenhouse. 🪵🪓 This type of support is invaluable to our small team. Thank you, guys! You are helping us to keep our mission moving forward. Group volunteering is a wonderful way to experience team building for your company. Reach out today to schedule your volunteer day. 🌱 Info@thenewgrowthproject.org
