My latest law review article coming out soon in print puts the Biden Administration's unfunded #staffing mandate into the context of the evolution of the #nursinghome regulatory regime. As I conclude, "too often nursing homes are treated as a political punchline. Piling more costly expectations upon them by distorting their ownership characteristics, or demagoguing their infection risk, is no substitute for a coherent, holistic strategy."

New Hampshire's leading voice for facility-based long-term care
About us
The New Hampshire Health Care Association is the trade association for roughly 90 assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. It advances the long-term care sector’s image and its legislative and regulatory positions. For example, from 2016-18 it had 35 columns published in New Hampshire print newspapers, as well as two in USA Today. The NHHCA provides programming on behalf of its members, including continuing education credits for licensed staff and facility administrators. It is a state affiliate of the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living. New Hampshire has the nation's second-oldest population, and yet it has been challenging to obtain policymaker support for the long-term care needs of our aging state. The NHHCA invites everyone to join its effort to see that caregiving, at all levels, and in all settings, is a living-wage profession, and that our dedicated caregivers, support staff, and our residents are honored in our state's Medicaid reimbursement policies.

This was a good bill, and we were delighted that Kerri Dutton of LNA Health Careers brought it to the New Hampshire Health Care Association. We need to do all we can to dismantle needless barriers to entering the care profession while, of course, still ensuring competent, quality care. Thanks to Rep. Jaci Grote!
