Commissioner Suárez today attended the 42nd annual conference of the New Jersey Black Issues Convention where she spoke about programs focused on helping people, especially #first-generation #homebuyers and people of limited financial means, own a home to build long-term stability and wealth for themselves and their families. She also talked about DCA’s efforts to create a workforce pipeline to attract a diverse array of college students to public sector professions. Thanks to the New Jersey Black Issues Convention for the invitation to the long-standing conference. Such longevity speaks to the importance of this event in addressing critical issues facing the Black community in the state.

Celebrating National Hispanic American Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15)! Today, we honor Eliana Pintor Marin, born in Newark to Portuguese immigrants, attended local schools and earned degrees from St. John's University. She began her career at Banco Votorantim Securities before joining Essex County, where she now serves as Deputy County Administrator. Elected to the Assembly in 2013, she chairs the Budget Committee, overseeing New Jersey's approximately $50 billion budget and facilitating discussions between the Legislature and the Governor. A champion for working families, she has advanced legislation on equal pay, family planning funding, and protections for domestic violence victims. She prioritizes education by sponsoring bills on financial literacy and disability awareness, and actively supports economic redevelopment in urban centers. Dedicated to her community, she volunteers with local cultural organizations and prioritizes her role as a mother. #hispanicheritagemonth
