🎉Meet our incredible summer intern, Reema Choueiri! 🎉 A senior at Princeton University majoring in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology on the pre-med track, Reema plans to take a gap year post-graduation to work or do research while preparing for medical school. This summer, she led our Oral Health Research Project, supporting our Policy team in improving access to care through the Princeton RISE (Recognizing Inequities and Standing for Equality) Fellowship Program through the Pace Center. Her work will help advance maternal and child health care quality in NJ. We're grateful for her dedication and the skills she's brought to our team. Thank you, Reema! 👏

Most countries outside of the US, midwives are standard providers of care- yet we continue to be underutilized. It is known that in countries that utilize midwives for care have better health outcomes for maternal health, families and infants. Midwives are primary care providers that care for women adolescence through menopause, that are specialized with prenatal, birth and postpartum care. #midwiferymatters
In #NewJersey and across the United States, midwifery is an underutilized resource. In other countries, midwives are the standard providers of care and are trained to provide a range of services including primary care, reproductive health, gynecologic care, and family planning services, and more. Countries with higher levels of midwifery integration have better health outcomes for mothers, infants, and families. #IntroduceMidwifery
