    Another YouTube star’s movie just BOMBED at the Box Office. It's made a mere $1.75M...ouch That’s 3 for 3 YouTube Stars movies that have tanked in theaters. Two of those in the last 3 months. 1. Logan Paul's "Airplane Mode" Less Than $1M B.O. 2. Ryan's "Ryan's World the Movie: Titan Universe" Less Than $1M B.O. Here's link to my post on that one https://lnkd.in/gfPsDxbu 3. Sam & Colby's "Legends of the Paranormal" $1.75M B.O. The latest movie from YouTubers is from Paranormal investigators Sam Golbach and Colby Brock who have massive YouTube success with more than 13 million subscribers on their popular channel. They thought that would translate to Box Office success...But it didn’t Why not? A) Their content is non-scripted and non-scripted movies in general don't perform at the Box Office B) Non-premium Content – Their viewers aren't used to paying for their content, as it’s free on YouTube C) The numbers mean less than you think: Only 10% of their 13M global subscribers are from the U.S. = 1.3M US subs Everytime you hear YouTube subs the number is IRRELEVANT, b/c its US subs that matter and its only 10% of YouTube subs. D) Being big on YouTube doesn't translate to being big off of YouTube. Shockingly the platform hasn't launched talent that's thrived off platform....yet UPDATED This post blew up far more than expected and became a lot more interesting with comments from 2 YouTube OG's Ezra Cooperstein and Jim Louderback. Both were less than happy with this post, but are smart great guys - we just have different view on the biz. And from Mike Monello, (https://lnkd.in/gVPuRJiZ) a producer of the biggest hit Indie Movie of all time, Blair Which Project, who schooled everyone in making a hit movie all without a major studio, big name Hollywood talent and YouTube stars. I highly recommend you read his comments below as its a pure gold MASTERCLASS in Indie film production, marketing and distribution The YouTube OG's say Sam & Colby is a hit movie, b/c apparently in the YouTube world $1.7M B.O. less $.7M exhibitor cut less $.5M FP&A and budget = $200K is supposed to a success In any other universe that would be crazy and in Hollywood would get you laughed out of the room or out of a job. Whereas to put things in perspective, an Indie movie with a low budget that's a hit would be... Blair Which Project $0.9M budget and $248 Million B.O. Paranormal Activity $0.2M budget and $193 Million B.O. Terrifier 3 $2M budget and $40 Million+ B.O. and counting + several more Here's the budget and B.O. for another YouTuber's movie Ryans World the Movie $10M Budget + $2 to 5M FP&A = $12 to $15M Cost and $600K B.O. 🤔 What are your thoughts?
