The New York Power Authority is proud to be a founding member of DCFlex — a new, 3-year initiative just launched by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to explore how data centers can support the #electric grid, enable better asset utilization, and support the clean energy transition. As a leader in the #energy sector, NYPA is committed to driving innovation and sustainability for the public good and hopes that others will join us in this critically important effort. DCFlex aims to learn by doing, leveraging the expertise of the project participants to develop and demonstrate key flexibility strategies ranging from computation to broader utilization of on-site #generation and #storage. 🔗 Learn more about this transformative partnership and our shared commitment to a #sustainable future: https://lnkd.in/e5a4sMYK #SustainableEnergy #CleanEnergy #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #GridResilience #DCFlex #NYPA #EPRI

NYPA is the nation's largest state power organization, serving government, not-for-profit, and business customers.
About us
The New York Power Authority is the nation's largest state public power organization, with 16 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission lines. More than 70 percent of the electricity we produce is clean renewable hydropower. NYPA is a leader in promoting energy efficiency, new energy technologies and electric transportation initiatives. Our lower-cost power production and electricity purchases support hundreds of thousands of jobs throughout the state. Our business customers range from Fortune 100 giants competing in international markets to small manufacturing or service firms that are vital to local economies. We sell power to government agencies; to community-owned electric systems and rural electric cooperatives; to job-producing companies; to private utilities for resale—without profit—to their customers; and to neighboring states, under federal requirements. This #GlobalDiversityAwarenessMonth & #GlobalInclusionMonth, our Office of Civil Rights and Inclusion brought our organization together for a powerful keynote and conversation with Haben Girma, the first deafblind person to attend and graduate from Harvard Law School on how inclusivity leads to innovations. During the event, Haben spoke about her extraordinary accomplishments and illuminated the barriers faced by disabled individuals. Through various programs and initiatives, like Executive Order 31, New York is becoming a model employer for people with disabilities. We each play a role in achieving this. At NYPA and the New York State Canal Corporation, we’re committed to a more inclusive culture where everyone can work in, live in and enjoy #NewYork. We know that by fostering inclusion and accessibility, we promote or encourage a collaborative and innovative workplace.

🌟 Happy #NationalMentorshipDay! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the power of mentorship in shaping careers and fostering growth. We have several programs making a difference. Two of note include: 1. NYPA Employee Mentorship Program: This formal program connects employees with seasoned career professionals, promoting mutual growth through guidance and shared experiences. 2. NYPA P-TECH internship Program: This initiative partners with Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) to empower students from under-resourced communities, providing them with hands-on projects and 1:1 mentorship in #STEM fields, crucial for a thriving clean energy future. Let’s continue to uplift and inspire through mentorship!

A few weeks ago, NYPA's Phillip David Ellison and Brian Glassman joined several New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) staff members, BronxWorks and The HOPE Program to share NYPA’s and the Bronx-Brooklyn Clean Energy Hub’s #decarbonization work on multi-family housing on NYCHA properties. Participants also toured the Association for Energy Affordability, Inc. and Bronx-Brooklyn Clean Energy Hub's #workforcedevelopment training facility focused on decarbonization and #weatherization technologies. Through future collaboration, we will enhance our ability to proactively include Bronx-based NYCHA residents in the #cleanenergy transition in disadvantaged communities.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Working together with ZOOZ Power, we've successfully deployed a groundbreaking power boosting technology that enables ultra-fast #electricvehicle charging in grid-constrained locations. This #innovation, developed as part of Governor Hochul's 2022 New York-Israel Smart Energy Innovation Challenge, incorporates ZOOZ's kinetic #energystorage and management technology and provides supplemental power to EV fast chargers, allowing ultra-fast charging even in areas with limited grid capacity. The system has been installed at our fleet charging station in Marcy and will guide further #technology deployment. “The new power booster is a breakthrough that will lead to the installation of reliable, high speed #EV chargers in locations that were previously constrained. Partnerships like these are integral to our work to #decarbonize our economy and support transportation #electrification in #NewYorkState.” -NYPA President and CEO Justin E.
