Today at Cardiac Surgery Grand Rounds we heard Igor Gosev MD, PhD discuss how cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other members of a well structured, highly effective clinical team can serve those in our community who are living with advanced heart failure. Dr Gosev discussed how far advances in VAD therapy and heart transplantation have come, and how critical it is to keep the patient at the center of it all. The importance of considering the patient’s wishes around quality and quantity of life, and empowering them to take an active role in the decision making can provide much needed support to patients navigating life with advanced heart failure.

Our very own, RWJBarnabas Health Director of Aortic Surgery, Ioannis Loumiotis, MD, will be sharing insights on aortic surgery and raising awareness for aortic disease. While he is known for his accomplishments in and out of the operating room, it is his demeanor with his patients and commitment to their health that shows what a great surgeon he is. Since you cannot watch him in that setting 😁, this will be the second-best way to learn about what the Aortic Center has to offer. Check the flyer for more details. See you October 1st @ 5:45 PM!

Our Divisions of Cardiology and Vascular Surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center recently achieved a multidisciplinary, collaborative effort and groundbreaking moment with the first LimFlow procedure in our Cath Lab – the very first of its kind within RWJBarnabas Health! The LimFlow System treatment is a minimally invasive procedure designed to bypass blocked arteries in the leg, restoring blood flow to the foot. This advanced treatment helps to potentially avoid major amputations, alleviate pain, and promote wound healing. We are proud to be one of the few regional centers offering this life and limb-saving procedure! If you would like to learn more, refer a patient, or schedule an appointment, please call 973-926-7852 (cardiology) / 973-926-7331 (vascular-F4). #Cardiology #vascularsurgery #MedicalInnovation #PatientCare #LimbSaving #HealthcareExcellence #RWJBarnabasHealth #NewarkBethIsraelMedicalCenter #CathLab
